House for Sale. 8 Bedroom Villa near Siena. Previous owner Michelangelo.

Art lovers take note: a sprawling villa once owned by the artist and sculptor Michelangelo Buonarroti is on the market. And if you have a few million to spare, the masterpiece could be yours. The eight-bedroom villa, located near Siena, was bought by the Renaissance master in 1549 and remained in the Buonarroti family until 1867 - more than 300 years after his death. The home, surrounded by the vineyards of Chianti and views of Tuscany’s rolling hills, could be yours for €7.5 million.

Whoever buys the villa, listed by the US-based property agency Handsome Properties International, will also get their hands on the original deed, which describes the Sistine Chapel painter as “a dear sculptor and Florentine citizen”.

Michelangelo (1475-1564) was a sculptor, painter and architect widely considered to be one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance period—and arguably of all time.

The villa is located near Castellina in Chianti. Castellina in Chianti is located on a ridge between the valleys of the Arbia, Elsa and Pesa rivers. The municipality of Castellina is entirely within the Chianti Classico wine zone.

Downside, of course, is that Michelangelo gets to live there as long as he likes and unlike most 450 year olds, he spends most of his time wandering around, naked, complaining about "bastard turtle abominations."

Fine print in the sale contract prohibits you from opening a pizzeria anywhere on the property, or renaming it the "Cowabunga Ranch".

I will settle for the rugs. I would like all of them please.

With the kind of interior walls that place probably has, one might need some repeaters for the wifi. Just sayin'.

It pretty much defines Tuscan architecture, which is cool and all, but I really don't know anything except I Want. That. Kitchen.

I Want. That. Kitchen.

Ehh, not very ergonomic and doesn't have enough storage and countertop area - I mean, you buy a pile like that, you're gonna want to do some major entertaining, right? That kitchen looks to me like you'd be struggling to serve more than a medium sized family at most. Of course, if you can buy that place, you can probably afford a kitchen makeover, so.

Don't worry, Michelangelo had the whole place wired with gigabit Cat6.

Ehh, not very ergonomic and doesn't have enough storage and countertop area...

Please don't try to reason with me during times of emotion like this.

Oh, I think it could be fixed up without losing its Renaissance charm - probably give it back more of what it originally had, in fact. The way they've crammed a few modern appliances into one corner like that doesn't half do the room justice.

As someone attempting to take part in the ludicrous Vancouver housing market, I find myself in the absurd position of considering this listing "approachable."

Jeez, at $8 million, this is just a couple of major life choices out of reach. Why didn't someone tell me about the Michelangelo Villa when I was picking a college major??

Also, I had no idea Michelangelo lived to be 89.

I have a bone to pick with the people who painted the walls and ceiling. Surely there would be some sketches or something under that whitewash.

Michelangelo's mom: "Go to your room and practice."

Teen Michelangelo: "I'm running out of wall space! Can't I practice in the den?"

Michelangelo's mom: "No. Just use your ceiling."

Teen Michelangelo: "Aww, mo-om!!"

Uuugh the whitewash and the overstuffed 18th century furnishings are making my eyes itch, it's like stripes and plaid. You either have rustic charm or gilt settees, not both.

(If you want to keep the furnishings may I suggest lavish full wall murals? Possibly of mythological nature scenes? Or maybe just huge tapestries, that would be fitting, peroid wise) I mean at the least go waist high with some painted tiles)!
