Venture? Capital!!!

With Season 6 of The Venture Brothers finally hitting at Midnight January 31st (or 12:01AM February 1st, whatever), an "Extended Trailer" has been released (which is actually shorter than the first trailer for Season 6, even if you don't count the frustratingly long intro, but you may have missed that first trailer entirely - as I shamefully did - but anyway, the new trailer better shows off the season's New York setting and its Marvel-inspired 'new neighbors', including The Fallen Archer and The Think Tank; besides, why can't you just watch both?).

Other than maybe Louie, Venture Brothers is the most auteur thing on TV. There's a fairly singular vision driving it, and that vision is wonderful and hilarious. Best show on television.

It's a tough choice, but the Pirate Captain is the best character on the show.

Ghost. Robot. He's a ghost haunting the head of a robot. *drops mic*

The best part about every new season of VB is that it's an excuse to rewatch every previous season of VB.

Hank. Hank is the best. Every other character exists to put into sharp relief how much Hank loves being Hank.

One of the recurring themes of The Venture Brothers is the malleability of identity, of trying either to figure out who you are (Rusty, Brock, Dean) or to establish yourself as the you you want to be (the Monarch, the Sovereign, Gary/21). The exception, of course, is Hank. Hank is Hank, he understands himself perfectly, and he has never wanted anything more than simply to be who he is. Dean's somebody you can relate to. Hank's somebody you can aspire to.

Brock:"Hank, aren't you the least bit embarrassed by your ignorance"

Hank:"Constantly!" (in a very chipper and totally Hank way)

Hank also gets to say some of the most outrageously horrible things, with gusto, and get proven wrong at every turn, yet still manages to incorporate what he learns from those gaffes. One of the reasons i agree that Hank is something to aspire to.

Also, just to plug it (again), the adult swim website has free streams of The Venture Brothers. Up until the end of December, they would play every episode (and the specials) in order, so you could binge watch EVERYTHING. Right now they are doing this thing where they are only playing a single season per week (they are not on Season 4), building up to the release of Season 6. It is so totally worth it if you have not seen it all. It is also FREE. Link for those who, like me, can never get enough of super science.

Buy the DVDs anyway- the commentaries are mostly just Doc and Jackson bullshitting, which is hilarious.

Yay, more Venture Bros!

Boo, trying to get Venture Bros in any way that isn't torrenting, thanks to being in Europe.

Hank definitely has leet skillz, there are those moments like...

Hank: I have it figured out that if I can just skim Pop's belt buckle, the bullet will ricochet off it and kill the guy with the gun.

Sgt. Hatred: Hank, I will give you so much money to not shoot your dad

I just tested the trailer out on Mr. The Dr. Zira to see if anyone else laughed as hard as I did at Think Tank and the results were a resounding success.
