Two drummers and a lot of hair

The Melvins-Big Business merger crushes the entire Houdini album live. Watch them play Night Goat and just try not to flip over your desk.

More sludgy goodness from the same show: Lysol and Eggnog.

The dream is to one day own a house in the country isolated enough from the rest of humanity that I can feel comfortable playing Houdini and Stoner Witch at the proper volume, which is basically a notch below Space Shuttle launch.

So good. When it comes to live Melvins video, it's an embarrassment of richness out there. If we're talking double trouble drummer-- I'm partial to this version of A History of Bad Men.

Atom - that's one of the primary drivers for my dream of owning a boat. True, sound carries further over water, but that's just my generous nature showing through.

This is fantastic. I came to the Melvins through what is now my favorite collaboration: Melvins+LUSTMORD, Pigs of the Roman Empire.

Pigs of the Roman Empire

YES

The Bloated Pope has been my phone's ringtone for years at this point. That's my all-time favorite Melvins track.

So I looked up the lyrics to Hooch the other day.

Did he really just sing gabbledegook for the whole thing or are they just fucking around with the transcription?

I saw the Big Melvins Business Band play touring for... one of the albums they did with that lineup. So not the Houdini run-through but they did play Night Goat, the cover of Flipper's Sacrifice etc. Lemme tell you the Dead wasted the potential of two drummers.

Almost all Melvins lyrics are gobbledegook to one degree or another btw.

back in my hometown of Richmond, VA, an expression used to describe heavy bands was that they would "knock your dick in the dirt." Melvins do that, all day long.

I only ever saw them once, but it was quite a night: Melvins, then Tool, with GWAR headlining, in 1992.

Melvins, then Tool

I saw the Melvins open for Tool a few times on the Aenima tour. At the Fresno show someone threw gum in Buzz's hair.

Tool fans suck.

Upcoming awesomeness: the Mike and the Melvins record.

Saw the Melvins with the Big Business lineup on the Bride Screamed Murder tour a few years ago in a small club in Birmingham. Closest thing I've ever had to a religious experience. Drums!

By far the loudest show I've ever been to, and that's saying something.

I saw King Buzzo at an Umami Burger in the Valley once. As he was leaving, the guy at the table next to us asked him about his 50 states tour, which they were about to do, and which he was excited about. I just screamed "we love you, man!" as he walked out the door. He looked pleased.

Having never witnessed the Melvins before, it's like the acoustic version of the light of creation. My eyes and ears have been opened. But, I have to ask - is that Sideshow Bob up there?

That's King Buzzo, sirrah!

I had no idea about this merger thing, but the two-drummer thing is amazing. Are they going to be doing this indefinitely?

Also, whoa modern-day Buzz Melvin looks like modern-day Shane Embury!
