Samantha Bee launches her own late night show, Full Frontal, on TBS

Samantha Bee Takes Her Place in Late Night (NY Times) Samantha Bee fumed for a few minutes in September, when Vanity Fair published an article on late-night television and placed a portrait of 10 hosts — all men, including Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Conan O’Brien and Trevor Noah — on its cover. Then she asked a co-worker to insert an image of her as a tattooed centaur shooting laser beams from her eyes into the portrait. She tweeted it with a single word: “BETTER.”

NY Magazine: Smirking in the Boys’ Room

It’s safe to say that none of the advance press around Stephen Colbert’s ascension to The Late Show throne included a menstruation anecdote. Which takes us pretty quickly to one of the more obvious pressures currently screwing with Samantha Bee’s cycle: She will be the first female steward of a late-night satire show. More than that: She’s one of only a tiny handful ever to host a late-night show of any stripe.

Refinery29: Samantha Bee Talks Full Frontal: "Watch With Both Of Your Vaginas"

The tagline for the show is, after all, “Watch or you’re sexist," and Bee is currently the only woman in late night, a fact she said the show had to reference in its marketing. “You can’t avoid it,” she said. “I think it’s a valid point to make. I don’t at all shy away from the question of being a woman in this space.“ (When a journalist asked whether you really are sexist if you don’t watch, she said: “I don’t think that you’re a sexist if you don’t watch. I think that you’re a fool if you don’t watch.”)

NPR: It’s a Feminist Show Because We are all Feminists (interview with the showrunner, Jo Miller)

I just want to keep doing this and keep getting better at it. We're brand new. You know, I was at The Daily Show for six years and we kept raising the bar and getting better. Jon was never satisfied and he always raised the bar and wanted to do better shows and dive deeper and hit harder and be funnier. And I hope we're two years funnier in two years.

Deadline Hollywood: Samantha Bee's Full Frontal with Turtle Chomping Alligator Debuts on TBS

She announced at the outset of Full Frontal With Samantha Bee how tough it had been, being on the sidelines all these months during the run-up to the Presidential primaries or, as she put it, “the most deranged political sh!tshow” of all time.

NY Post: Samantha Bee is Kicking Trevor Noah’s Ass

[Samantha Bee’s] energy and feminist perspective make “Full Frontal” feel like something newer and better than the diminished “Daily Show.” It’s no surprise that Bee comes off like the obvious successor to Stewart as the ruler of American political commentary — she’s the one who worked with him for 12 years.

I would be more excited about watching this if they hadn't apparently gone to great lengths to make it utterly impossible to watch without buying a television set. In this day and age, it's hard not to view that as an intentional act of sabotage. I don't know anybody who's been able to see an episode yet, though we're all excited by what we've seen online.

Well, I could buy a 21-minute episode for $2.99 on Amazon.

I'm bummed, because I would definitely watch it if I hadn't cut the cord.

As someone who wanted "TDS with Samantha Bee and Jason Jones", this makes me happy.

Ah, didn't realize it was on Amazon! That's awesome. Thanks!

You know what? I'm an idiot. I went ahead and bought the season on Amazon. Considering how much I've whined about there being no women on late night, it seems like the least I could do.

Samantha Bee deserved The Daily Show slot for this one alone: Shame Parade.

Thanks for this.

The Amazon season pass is $14.99. Worth it. (Of course, I can't tell how many eps that will be, but at long as it's more than 5, I'm happy with the price.)

If you have cable or access to log in on someone's cable account you can watch this on the tbs website.

Not bad for a first episode. Wish she had an hour because I would like to see some longer pieces. I find the set a little too bright but hopefully that ends up being an unimportant detail to me in the future - it's a very minor point.

Some of the press has been interesting. It pisses me off that in 2016 she has to talk about being female. BECAUSE SHE'S RIGHT - SHE DOES *HAVE TO*. Fuck, it was supposed to be better for everyone by now.

Just watched a bunch of clips at the YT channel. Oh man, tears of laughter. Just in Ein Film, the descriptions of Trump (oddly tinted assembly of psychiatric symptoms) and Cruz (he'd lecture a starving kitten about personal responsibility).

And I'm still a Hills woman, but the brief takedown of I never thought I'd be running for Prez...

Doing a search for the show on the usual sharing sites is .... interesting.

The intro theme to her show is, "Boys wanna be her" by Peaches.

Awesome.

God, yes, it is great to have her back on a show, and now her own show. The first episode was hilarious.

I've seen it mentioned before that this will be a 13-episode season.

Those clips from the show's election coverage are great. Amazon won't sell the show to UK subscribers, though, so I'll just have to hope some cable channel over here picks it up.

That's weird, they just sold it to me (in Denmark). Maybe because it was via my old US account?

Amazon UK search turns up a blank. Amazon US search tells me it can sell the programme only to those whose credit cards were issued by a US bank (which mine wasn't).
