Alvin Buenaventura, comics publisher, editor, art dealer, and advocate, passed away Feb. 11, 2016 at the tragically young age of 39.

As the founder of Buenaventura Press (which closed in 2010) and Pigeon Press , Buenaventura originally produced prints for comics artists like Daniel Clowes, Chris Ware, and Gary Panter, before branching out into publishing. He published key works by Vanessa Davis, Lisa Hanawalt (now best known for her work on Bojack Horseman), and Johnny Ryan, as well as the monumental (16" x 21") Kramers Ergot 7.''

In 2012, he wrote a book on the work of Daniel Clowes. Following Buenaventura's death, Clowes posted that Buenaventura was "as loyal a friend and advocate as I'll ever have".

I hope Tim Hensley's Sir Alfred No. 3 that they just finished together sees the light. And what a classy response his was to a heartbreaking, and doubly personal, loss.
