Always good to see Diamond Geezer's writing mentioned. Prolific blogger is prolific (and he did some good writing when he visited the Hebrides back in the day).

Sorry not to comment earlier, but I hadn't read Diamond Geezer for a few months, so I splurged on that for a while.
For people who clicked the link and gave up early (like me until I read Wordshore's comment), or simply didn't find the link enticing: the article devolves into a sardonic commentary on the pointlessness of the Mother's Day afternoon tea.
And here's the MeFi previouslies for Diamond Geezer: 1, 2 (the most London one) & 3, all good reads.

Choose from a variety of loose-leaf teas, individually sourced, while the resident pianist tinkles in the corner.
I assume he had to tinkle because he was drinking all that tea.

Funny how these "WHY MAKE A BIG DEAL" articles always seem to focus on holidays that are coded female.

Our friends across the pond live on a different calendar. It isn't as different as, say, the Jewish calendar or the asian lunar calendar, but it's still different. We still love them, and it is our differences that make us interesting to each other.
I hear Canada has some fucked up day for Thanksgiving, too.

Meh I'd rather go to Bettys. I bet their queue was out the door for a few hours this past Sunday.
