As if they weren't awesome enough individually, Neko Case, k. d. lang, and Laura Veirs have released a new song from a forthcoming album to be released this June.

A little sad there's no stop in Boston, but all of our big venues suck. So, I'm not surprised.

Seriously, though, I will buy everything Neko Case puts out, gladly.

Ohmygollygaloremushroomspore they're going to be performing at the Denver Botanic Gardens in July. What an awesome place to hear them!

MeFi meetup, anyone?

Oh, I love this!

Veirs is from my hometown & was a couple of years ahead of me in school. (She was a photographer and spent hours upon hours in the darkroom. You could always tell if she'd been in the newspaper room -- there'd be a perfume of developer chemicals in her wake. Her photos were stunning and she was always supernice to everyone.)

I've been listening to this tune for a week. Love it.

Course, I'd follow Neko to the ends of the earth, so how wouldn't I? What is it about her voice?

Never understood why k.d. hasn't gotten more love. She's totally unique.

This is awesome!

Also, Laura Veirs and Neko Case collaborated on another song a few years back (you can hear Neko singing around the 2:30 mark).

They're playing at the Atlanta Botanical Garden in July and I will be there even if I have to scale a fence and sneak in like a ninja. Luckily my wife and I are members at the Garden so hopefully I'll be able to get tickets right when they go on sale.

I saw Laura open for Neko in 2014 on the tour for Neko's latest album. I had never heard of her (Veirs) before that night, but by the end of the year "Year of Meteors" was my most played album on Spotify.

I haven't paid much attention to k.d. lang in a while. I was a big fan of her more country stuff, but she fell off my radar after that. It will be great to see her live with Neko and Laura.

Hopefully you didn't miss her cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah"!

When Absolute Torch and Twang came out, my dad brought it home on LP. Fourteen year old me was like "Pffft. What's this shit?"

I now love that album.

I now love that album.
That was a big breakthrough for her, mandolin. Prior to that, she was still appearing in smaller, more intimate, venues; often for a week at a time. I had the good fortune to have connections in the music business in those days, and was lucky enough to see her and The Reclines at the Railway Club in Vancouver perhaps a dozen times. Even had a few after-set drinks a couple of times, and she came out boating with us once.

Flash-forward to the 2010 Winter Olympics here in Vancouver. I was doing some of the audio-video, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Those giant screens? Yeah, that was us. Anyway, my boss and I are crossing the venue floor during sound-check, and suddenly I hear "Hey MUNGO! come booming out of the speakers. Mungo was one of my nicknames back in the day. Startled, I look up and see k.d. on stage. "How's Dog-Boy doin'?" she yells. Dog-boy was one of my partners-in-crime in the 80s. My boss is WTF? All casual, I go "Yeah, k.d. and I used to hang."

I got to see this cover performfance of Cohen's Hallelujah from a tunnel on the stadium floor. Yes, it was amazing.
