Dave, The Bracket

There are more than 100 Daves or Davids in the world! Here are 64 of them.
Narrow down this bracket to the best Dave, hit Submit, and find out how right you are.

There is an explainer of (some) of the entrants and matchups here. Note that the selection committee was perhaps biased slightly towards sports Daves, given that it was posted on a sports website.

Also, if you look at the word David enough it stops having any meaning. Like there's no way that DAVID SCHWIMMER is a real thing, right? But it is!

I ended up with Bowie vs Letterman. Bowie won.
(Also, I had the wrong Dave Thomas in my head. Which didn't change the outcome.)

He did for mine too - which is fortunate because otherwise my final 4 might have been:
Bowie, Hockney, Lynch, DFW - which would have made me feel like a big poseur to be honest.

My love of Frostys and Baconators won out though.

David Bowie over David Lean, Bowie wins!

Mostly I had no idea who the sports Davids were so my wins did not map on to theirs at all. My final four were Bowie, Cronenberg (I think), Lean, and Sedaris.

I reran it and Hume edged Cronenberg but Bowie still topped out.
posted by mwhybark at 10:21 AM on March 15, 2016 [1 favorite]

Huh, I got three out of the final four right (if not correct), and the one I missed was the one I had the most internal debate on.

It kinda worries me that I'm that well-synched to Jon Bois.
