The only bad thing is that if the movie is a success then the fracking corporate execs will create The Lego Superman Movie, Lego Wonderwoman, Lego Flash and Lego Daredevil, increasingly badly, until they make us all sick of that genre as well.

There was a parody history of superhero movies posted a while back that covered the next twenty years. As I recall, DC abandoned grimdark movies in favor of an all-Lego lineup and Robert Downey sold his soul to Disney, who used it as grist to fuel CGI versions of him in movies for perpetuity.

THE ABRIDGED HISTORY OF DISNEY, 2015–2040 AD. (MeFi post):
DC Comics announces its plan to quadruple down on the Lego and superhero mash-up strategy with the announcements of The Lego Superman Movie (2020), The Lego Joker Movie (also 2020), The Lego Flash Movie (2021), and The Lego Green Lantern Movie (2022).

While the studio wouldn't confirm the rumors of The Lego Justice League Movie, it's widely believed that the five Lego superhero films are leading to an Avengers-like team flick. Perhaps that one will star a female Lego lead.

I kind of wish that bait & switch advertising were a thing, because I'd kind of like it if Batman V. Superman had the trailers and stuff it did now, but none of that was actually in the movie because the film's actually about a mock trial held at the Justice League HQ over a civil disagreement between the two.

The LEGO superhero games are quite good—LEGO Avengers has some really deep cuts and one mission has you finding a Captain-America-garbed cat for Black Panther.

Wil Arnett's Batman was such a pleasant surprise in the LEGO Movie. Glad that they're exploring him a bit more but I do wonder if they can maintain a movie's worth of material. Perhaps he'll steal from the Millennium Falcon crew again.

I enjoy the Lego movies but wasn't super excited about a new one but the reviews of BvS and the general "GRIMDAAAAARK BAAAAATMAAAAN" we are currently stuck with mean I kind of have to see it.

I would also accept a Brave and the Bold movie, though. Especially with Aquaman in it.

(There's precedent for Apple OS voices in animated movies, divabat - the evil steering wheel in Wall-E was voiced by the MacInTalk speech synthesizer.)

From my son, a Flash fan who notices little details like this:
There's a brief period (1:23) when they show the Justice League. But no Flash! Wait, what's that blur? There he is.

This will be the third movie with the Flash. The other two:
The Lego Movie
Batman vs Superman

The LEGO Movie was so way better than anyone could have hoped it would be, and Batman is a huge part of that. I'm seriously worried though that this will be like any over-long SNL sketch.

Hope I'm wrong.

It was actually Stephen Hawking, doing his Siri impression.

According to the late Ken Campbell, Hawking's speech synthesiser has long had alternate voices, one of which (a Southern Belle called Sadie) he uses for parties. I'm sure that's not true, but I like to imagine it's true, which is the next best thing. Certainly in the back of my mind, whenever he comes up, I think of him as Sadie Hawking.

My son and I had discussed making a lego Batman V. Superman where it was along the lines of My Dinner with Andre, where lego journalist Clark Kent goes to a restaurant to interview lego industrialist Bruce Wayne, and they end up having this deep discussion about life and their alter-egos. Wayne is telling Kent about these amazing adventures he has had and how they make it all worthwhile being Batman, while Kent is like, "Gosh, I'm just happy to wake up in the morning, find there's no cockroach floating in the cup of coffee from the previous night, and you know, zap it with my heat vision."

Never got around to it though.

I was going to make a comment about how they really needed to get the people who did A Town Called Panic in to make the movie, but then I was distracted by the fact that what they actually did next was the movie of Ernest and Celestine, and now I'm a bit confused.

But they do need to get in the people who made A Town called Panic.

There's no chance the studios would go for it, but if done right that could make a fun story.

I've long wanted them to adapt issues 682-683, most of which takes place in Batman's mind and Alfred's soliloquies, but that'll never happen either despite being one of the best Batman stories ever.
