I am disappointed that this is not pictures of goons hired by NPR staff to rough up rabid fans.

Mugs of MetaFilter cannot be far behind.

Also, don't miss the awesome Nina Totenberg moment: filing from vacation with a margarita the day Scalia died.

Beside me on my desk right now.

Yes, 4pm is a perfectly reasonable time to have both an Earl Grey tea and a Heineken on the go...

Just a mug, huh? I think I'm firmly into "paraphernalia" status at this point.

Someone tell me what my mug says, I can't read it.

Someone tell me what my mug says

That second picture of 25 March with the little niche that the mug was sitting addresses a question that has plagued me for my entire adult coffee drinking life.

Right-thinking people feel strange bringing a cup of coffee into a restroom, but where do you put it if you need to go in? An improvement on this in public places might be a locker system akin to those coin-op bus station lockers that figured so prominently in those old spy movies, but perhaps updated with a hot plate or something...

Our office rest rooms have a table outside that's generally got a few coffee cups and/or laptops of people who set them there while they're in the toilet.

We have a couple of water fountains outside the restrooms. People leave coffee mugs and notepads on the back ledge of the water fountain (away from the water).

Where are you drinking coffee if not in the restroom?

I just want to know if Nina Totenburg ordered that margarita before or AFTER Scalia died.

To be fair, I did inherit it from my uncle. Who is dead. You monster.

Thought this was going to be an exhaustive catalog of each local affiliate's 'member premium' mugs. And that "The Tote Bags of NPR" wouldn't be far behind...

I thought the same thing and was regretting giving my old KQED auction logo mug away.

I was a little disappointed. Was expecting weirder mugs.

Did he die of a caffeine deficiency, perchance?

It's not NPR, but my favorite public radio mug is the 100 Years of This American Life.

Now I want a MugsOfMetafilter tumblr to make up for not working at NPR.

Came for the jailhouse photos. (Thought they meant mugshots)

Stayed for the Totenburg Mug-arita

I got a NPR mug from someone at NPR once and I treasure it.

I knew a guy who could hook you up with tote bags but one day his number stopped working. Word on the grapevine is Sedaris roughed him up pretty bad. ("Funny like I'm a clown? I amuse you?")

I can't decide if that quote sounds funnier in David's or Amy's voice.

I really want a "you have distracted from my creative process" mug now.

I was more interested in seeing the inside of NPR headquarters than the mugs themselves.

I was too. I shouldn't be super surprised that it looks like every newsroom ever.

oooohhhhh. So I don't have photos but I have been therewithin. I was meeting with the NPR One team who are really nice guys. It's mostly just a nice open-plan office, I didn't go in any of the broadcast areas. We did go try to find the NPR visualization team who were not around but beside their desks was the Planet Money Emmy statue which was really cool as I had bought the t-shirt which was the subject of that reporting series. The building is pretty central in DC - you could walk there from most of the capitol buildings.

Hopefully they'll bring back their Election Party dashboard app for this November's election.
