My parents used to buy large Fun Pad brand coloring & activity books to keep my brother and me occupied on long road trips when we were kids. By vacation's end, there was nary a page that hadn't been completely corrupted by scribbled profanities and crudely drawn scenes of sex, violence, and scatology. These images bring back good childhood memories!

So calling bullshit on that origin story.

That's actually a very well curated selection of posts from the subreddit. Most are not quite so clever.

Call me pedantic but that hardly seems instant!

That was much funnier than I expected going in. I might need to stay away from Disney movies for a while though...

This is less actual clever and more heh I totes made this dirty by adding a bit that wasn't there edgy amirite.

Smurf jizz should be blue. Periwinkle at the very least.

CollegeHumor, per the name, has a tendency to be rather sophomoric.

Those collections of Japanese kids' defacements of their textbooks* are a whole lot funnier overall, for my money.

*Japanese schools use paperback textbooks that are purchased anew each year, so they're effectively disposable.

I'm more a fan of the opposite practice.

Also, that tail Winnie's carrying was pinned on, anyway, so he ought to have just crunked the safety pin.

I think some of those did not start out as coloring-book pictures, but are completely original. Which makes them banal.

I thought the last one was at least a little clever...

Slightly disappointed at the lack of even a single Judith slaying Holofernes. Always go for the classics.

They weren't clever (except the last one). They made me laugh, though, and while I enjoy cleverness, I also enjoy laughter.
