i hope this isn't poisoning the well, but: the dude whose work this is based on, Charles Murray, is the same Charles Murray who wrote "The Bell Curve" and a lot of his idea of "mainstream" seems to be about whiteness (as the WaPo article mentions but doesn't really challenge?)
