I thought everyone knew that Robert Reich's doppelgänger is Stephen Sondheim.

I always wondered what the First and Second Reichs were, and now I know.

I wonder how accordionist Bob felt about being the Third Reich.

I wonder if this event has been recorded, because I'd love to hear Reich converse with Reich about Reich's book.

The tape of the event is embedded at the bottom of the page.

Oh, thanks, I will check that out when I get home from work.

You keep rockin' it like Glen Beck.

Mod note: Couple of comments deleted; Reich is short, probably better not to beLABOR that point though, ha ha.

One of them should just start going by Mike.

Worse than the rise of the chatBots is the peculiar non-spam spam that one needs to reply to to aid your namesake from somewhere that chose to pick a gmail address surprisingly close to yours. And theirs I suppose. I'm glad to know that some other sam (yeah so creative with the mefi handle) had a reservation for a hotsprings spa in Iceland. I worry about another that seemed to be involved in a slightly sketchy supplement group and wish I'd connected with the opera singer sam, would have gone to the show that I kept getting rehearsal notices it it'd been even one state closer.

If you know your old tv show's these guys would've been great on What's my Line.

How is it that Accordion Rob is the one wearing the nice suit?

I wonder if they'll publish a paper together, like A Few Goodmen.

I was surprised by the email from an NPR producer sent at 9:30 AM asking for a media appearance at 10:30 AM. It's really that last-minute, huh?

This is a little bit of a digression, but I regularly get email at my gmail address intended for other people who somehow have names that may or may not work out to kmellis.

Confirmations that the bra I ordered has arrived at the Victoria, BC Sears? That I owe money for a textbook rental in Georgia? That chocolate is allowed during my 17-day smoking study in Nashville? From a Brisbane solicitor about my son's court proceeding? A Fairfax, VA real estate agent about my visit to an open house? Response to my query about adopting a three-legged cat in Houston? A request to print out an attached expense report for a construction company in Albany? Invitation to a "Tamale Sunday" party in Hawaii? An excited group email to all my best college girlfriends that the Dixie Chicks are playing in Nashville and we should all get together and go to the show? A quote on a replacement door in Rochester, NY? An invitation to rush a new sorority at Old Dominion University?

All sent to me.

These are just a small sample of the results of a search of my gmail tagged with "not me", a tag I only added in the last couple of years. I've been getting these emails for a long time. Sometimes I respond, as I did about the cat adoption, which made me sad because of the disconnect (the rescue person and I agreed that perhaps the interested party would make another enquiry) or with a mother's email to her daughter. I had to tell the old white guy who forwards all those old white guy racist anti-Obama emails that he had the wrong address twice before he fixed it. Someone signed up for a sugardaddy.com account and I actually just used the email password reset to close that account because I didn't want to get any of the following emails and the whole idea just pissed me off.

I worry that something really important will miss its intended recipient and perhaps the recent Brisbane solicitor is an example. I didn't write her back because from the (two) emails I could tell that they were talking on the phone and so I assumed they'd figure it out and correct it themselves.

There isn't that much truly personal mail that's misdirected. Some. But overall it's still a little disconcerting getting these unintended glimpses into other people's lives.

I like these Rob Reichs. At least Rob Reichs seem to have a sense of humour

There are several people online who share the same name as me and are also musicians. I realised that we could form a complete band, and reached out by email.

Not a single one of them got back to me.

Miserable sods, people who share my name. To be fair, by and large. I too am arguably a miserable sod.

Not like the Rob Reichs.

I occasionally get Tweets that are clearly meant to go to @brundle_fly, a programmer in Toronto.

So I feel like I can relate.

I have a friend named Tim Kingston and in the early-ish days of Facebook I remember him joining an I Am Tim Kingston (or similar) facebook group. It was great. Guys would post like, "Hey, I'm Tim Kingston" and stuff. I found it quite hilarious.

So I got an email from the political scientist Rob Reich last year, and it was SO CONFUSING, because of course the Labor Department secretary is always in my FB feed, and is close in CA, so I just assumed it was the same guy.

I really like them both.
