How to get a cork out of an empty wine bottle A cool video has emerged of a man demonstrating how to free a cork trapped inside a wine bottle using a PE bag.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Eh, this is a short, not great video from a brand new youtube channel that seems to be on the hunt for clicks. -- cortex

You can do this with a bandana too. It's a pretty neat party trick. You push the corner in in such a way that it makes a little cup, and then you jiggle the bottle around until the cork lands in the cup. Then you pull the cork out.

I am sure I saw this on Metafilter but I can't find it.
A "potentially revolutionary" device to help women during difficult births has come from an unlikely source - a car mechanic from Argentina, who based the idea on a party trick.

That was really interesting asok.

It's kind of viscerally disturbing to watch them put a bag over a baby's head, even though I understand that the baby is not breathing yet.

I'm not clear on why they seem to only be planning to sell it in developing countries. I mean I see why it's even more useful to them that it's cheap and easy to use and safe, but cheap, easy to use, and safe are important everywhere, right? It's not like "we can afford cesareans and can do episiotemies with less risk of infection than developing countries" is a reason to prefer those things over this.
