Since no dragon remains have yet been identified, anatomy and physiology will be explored by way of comparative anatomy of living species as well as species that are extinct, such as dinosaurs--The Circle of the Dragon

I've always assumed that the dragon myth came from people who saw fossilized dinosaurs (in Europe) or plesiosaurs (in the Orient). (Which I've always assumed was the reason that European dragons and Chinese dragons look so different.) There have been places where nearly complete skeletons of each had reached the surface due to erosion, and what was a stone-age people to think when they saw such skeletons which didn't resemble anything alive they'd ever seen?
