A long while back I had a Ford Expedition (I had to do deliveries, so don't judge) and it was terrifying just changing lanes. I can't imagine...

Oh, this makes me (who tends to anthropomorphize everything) feel really bad for those poor trucks. They're trying!

Boy do I hate when the giant swastika I've painted on the roof of my SUV gets scratched up by sand.

Video doesn't display for me. I guess it's embedded from somewhere else? I can see the rest of the page, just not the video.

I thought for a minute that the swastika was one of those "red bar through a swastika" anti-Nazi things, but, no, it's a swastika.

Nazi SUV at 0:45 flipped hard.

Another driver corrected at 1:25 and prevented a roll. And then the next driver looks like they're gonna pull off the same move, but nope.

This is awesome.

It isn't often that I feel resentful about other people obviously having much more money to waste than myself. But now I feel resentful.

Back to Zap de Spion or whatever. Now that's fun.

When you think that land cruisers retail at like $85k even if the majority of these are much older models that is a massive amount of money basically being wrecked by extremely wealthy and entitled but also utterly bored gulf state millenials.

Is guess the reality is that even in a gilded cage with an insane amount of wealth that people are going to find various ways of rebelling even if the rebelling takes the form of high dollar jackass routines. Basically just like trying to do a backflip off a ramp in a grocery cart just with way more resources than the average bored American teen has access to.

Say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, metafilter. At least it's an ethos.

Ok...there weren't many jumps, and there were fewer "missed jumps"....it was super entertaining, but mostly, tbh, SUV's performing poorly in a medium they aren't designed to drive in....which isn't exactly a snappy title, i'll admit, but a tad more accurate.

I wouldn't say those SUVs performed poorly, I'd say that they were being driven exceedingly badly. My general reaction as I watched was "These people can't drive very well."

I wonder if the point in a lot of cases was an attempt to get as close as possible to tipping over without actually tipping over.

I have to admit a certain amount of Schadenfreude hearing the BEEP BEP BEEEEP of what was presumably a driver bouncing his face off the horn as his truck was rolling over around 1:52.

There's like a million hits on "building your own roll cage", you'd think they'd make the effort.

Is there an easy way to differentiate the nazi swastika from the buddhist swastika, or are we just assuming from the location? My knee jerk reaction to swastikas is to wish the person dead, but I do know it's still got positive associations many places.

It's also in a lot of Islamic calligraphy, but generally not isolated like that with a red circle around it. I think the design puts it in the Nazi category. Religious ones look pretty different.

Easy mnemonic: the Nazi swastika looks like "SS," like the secret police, and is usually depicted at a 45° angle. The Buddhist one is usually depicted at a 90° angle and has the heads pointing the other way (so… "ZZ," kind of).

Easy. Is it before 1933 or after?

Really not a good demarcation.

The idea that a guy who wrecks SUVs by driving them over sand dunes at insane speeds is really into Buddhism is kind of improbable.

The article: "“Schadenfreude” is the word your looking for"

Huh, I didn't realize "Schadenfreude" was the German word for "that looks like a lot of fun."

BrotherCaine: "Is there an easy way to differentiate the nazi swastika from the buddhist swastika"

srboisvert: "Easy. Is it before 1933 or after?"

If the answer to "Is it before 1933 or after" is "It's before 1933", then, yeah, it's easy to tell. But if the answer is "It's after 1933", it's not so easy. You are aware that the Buddhist 卍 is still in common use, right?
