Jesus, the suggested videos sidebar should be category headings in the DSM 5.

If you don't have an air conditioner, you can at least watch this video so your computer's fan will help cool the room.

Well it's no Star Trek TNG HD Ambient Engine Noise (Idling for 12 hrs in 1080p). (Which, honestly, I don't know if it's any improvement on Star Trek TNG Ambient Engine Noise (Idling for 24 hrs).)

This is pretty cool, but is it as cool as Epic Sax Guy 10 hours? (If you need to exorcise that from your head, it's from Moldova's 2010 Eurovision entry.)

This is the worst performance of Cage's 4'33" I've ever heard.

I'm only at hour two so I'm still questioning the validity of this post. Will post to Metatalk if it disappoints.

12 hours of slowly going mad because the video creator typed "a air conditioner" instead of "an air conditioner."

Leave this playing as you go to sleep but turn the screen off. Fall asleep. Wake up. It's all background noise now so you don't even notice it. Suddenly it stops and you realize that something had stopped; something has changed and you do not know what. An awareness of something coming out from its sudden absence. Air conditioners are deep.

Oh, btw, for the past few days I've been listening to this for ambiance (or is it spelled "ambience"?):

That's the kind of thing I need when I go to sleep. When I'm at home, I always have a fan running at bedtime, but in a hotel or something, I have to use a fan noise on my phone. This may work better.

At my last hotel stay I was bemused to discover that, despite the tv having an audio aux in to play the brown noise I am accustomed to as I sleep, there was no way to play it without flashing garbage on the tv screen.

I'm a big fan of mynoise.net. The fan noise with the treble and mids removed and the bass jacked up is the TNG Enterprise background. Right now I'm enjoying a nice cooling rainfall

You can also cool off with this ceiling fan.

This is brilliant, and might finally get me to set up something to play music at night other than leaving my laptop open. Ambient noise really helps me sleep, and I always feel a little bad about turning my fan on but not actually pointing it at me.

One of the first things I did when I got a Zoom H2n was to place it in the backyard (during springtime) and record for an hour. Then I worked on it for a while in Audition, mostly to bring down some of the ambient (wind) white noise. The birds, squirrels, leaves rustling, and wind chimes make for pleasant background sound, especially in the middle of winter. Nice to listen on headphones, too, given just how much you can hear going on (like clearly hearing the neighbor open his back porch screen door and sitting down).

Oh, btw, if you right click on a youtube video, there's now an option to set a video to loop so you don't have to keep clicking the play button every time. Doesn’t work with their flash player though. At least I haven't tried it yet.
