Tressy has hair that grows. Crissy's hair grows down to her toes. Tuesday Taylor has convertible outfits (and hair) (plus bonus Brooke Shields). Changing hair not enough? Meet Growing Up (and out) Skipper!

Want more? Growing Hair Cher. Even more Tressy.

Oh that stupid Skipper made life hell -- guys would come up to you at school and rotate your arm and then laugh.

And let us not forget lovely Blythe, whose creepy eyeballs changed color! (I had the blonde one.)

I hope you still have it. Original Kenner Blythe dolls sell on eBay for around $1000.

Those growing-hair dolls (there were plenty of ripoffs of Tressy) invariably had coarse nylon hair that quickly devolved into a snarled, uncombable mess, and the key you stuck in her back to wind the hair back quickly lost. And don't get me started on Chatty Cathy.

I never got a Tuesday Taylor but for some reason I did get her rockin' penthouse.

Alas, no. But mine didn't have the pull string to change the eye color -- it got in the way of combing her hair, so I cut it off and just used my thumbs to rotate the eyeballs.

Tuesday Taylor

Whoa. At first I thought this was a mistake, but no. Tuesday Taylor, meet Tiffany Taylor. I hear the damn song in my head every time I hear the name Tiffany. Also, wow, 70s, that is one fucked-up commercial.

But does your doll... dance?

That dancing doll is seriously scary.

Sunken living room...check. Circular fireplace...check. Very 70s decor...check. That is fantastic.

You're so right about the dancing one. The entire ad for that doll is unsettling, especially the boy at the end. (Ad starts at 5:40 in Atom Eyes' linked video.)

I had the Growing Up Skipper and the Bionic Woman with her awesome dome home. My sister had the Cher doll. The Cher doll was pretty awesome because she was taller than all other dolls and had the super long hair to mess with. But I loved the Bionic Woman with her roll up skin and bionic bits. She was a great super hero roll model.
