T-Pain actually admits he is a robot! I KNEW it! No human can sing like that...

Also, the video is amazing, the song is great and now I like T-Pain, goddammit, Metafilter, this was not supposed to happen.

I didn't want to like this because I was afraid it would be poking fun at Moz (how dare you sir) but I really liked it and the song wasn't bad either.

Oh, and a link to the original for you young'ins .

This is so freaky. Just last night I was watching the Morrissey vid Hulmerist on LaserDisc followed by The Greatest Event in Television History. Throw in that Styx video remake by Paul Rudd & Jimmy Fallon and the whole world starts to resemble a shot-for-shot remake of the '80s.
... and I guess I'm OK with that

Please don't show me that gem again. It's like someone trying to explain why Stevie Wonder is a genius while they can neither sing nor play keyboards live, but they're sincere! It actually helps me get T-Pain's deliberate overproducing more, and in the OP, he's actually genius at it. Effortlessly brilliant at it.

The video is nicely done, but god the autotune has rushed headlong into the uncanny valley and damn near out the other side. It's not so much aggressively unlistenable as the musical equivalent of an endless row of identical snout-houses, all painted HOA-approved grey.

Note that this is T Pain, who performed "I'm 'n Luv (wit a Stripper)." Not to be confused with T Paine, who wrote "The Rights of Man".

OMG I love this so much. He's got a really strong soulful voice and delivery.

I also love the contrast (especially in the last song) between the lyrical content and style.

Also more urban retakes of classic/indie rock stuff please.

Also, every time I see old pictures/video of Morrissey, I am more and more tempted to get the haircut. It's not too far off from what I already have. So tempting.

The Smiths video really takes me back to being a student when about half the population tried to look like Morrissey. It's a great look, and having a bit if a revival when - if you must - Marty from Geordie Shore is rocking a pretty convincing quiff.

Also, full props to Classixx. They continue to blow me away.

Fig, the haircut is great. If you have clippers at home, it's easy to keep the sides and back clean which gives you a lot of freedom to let the top be messy. Highly recommended.

Has anyone seen Morrissey's reaction to this.... thing?
Because, his calm, measured response will certainly temper my initial reaction.

But, in the meantime, this thread has taught me T-Pain can sing, and someone around him knows history. So, there is that.
