So much good stuff this year! Also, you get to see somebody blowing a trumpet mouthpiece into a hippo's ass.

I've always wanted VICE to report from SIGGRAPH on acid.

It's vaguely depressing, though, because it used to be that whatever the coolest thing was at SIGGRAPH in a particular year would turn up in Creative Suite within two years or so. Since Adobe went to Creative Cloud, that kind of incremental upgrade doesn't seem to happen anymore.

Some of the illumination techniques are going to make green screen vastly more realistic an probably much cheaper if matching lighting to the background is done digitally.

I will never not love the SIGGRAPH technical papers trailer, though as I get further and further from the graphics projects I did in undergrad, I increasingly just view them as magical entertainment that I couldn't possibly understand.

The animal sound of naked want that escaped from my mouth during the shot of the physical armatures controlling a 3D model in real time.

I am no longer on animation but apparently some part of me will never not be in animation.

The millimeter wave sensing shown at the front of the video is Project Soli from Google ATAP.

Very interesting stuff, but IMO kind of on the fringe of what SIGGRAPH should be covering. But then again SIGCHI are a bunch of wet blankets, so this is probably the best alternate place to show it off and get some interest.

huh. my phd was related to theoretical work behind "schroedingers smoke". once Hollywood ditches 3D and moves up to 4D, I'll totally be in demand...

Too bad they could only afford an out-of-work radio DJ from a defunct classic rock station to narrate.

Will they show you how to Live Forever As You Are Now? Gotta have your avatar skin submitted to all the tests - ball, tear and DEFINITELY wiggle.
