Debka - given the current situation in the middle east, I thought this might be a good time to remind some of, and acquaint others to, this drudge-like source.

A good read, but I'm not convinced it's as lame as Drudge. Or at least Matt Drudge, personally, as represented on his radio show (which nauseates).

Debka reported prior to the attack on Afghanistan that Bin Laden had "not ragged rabble, but a well-drilled, dedicated Islamic legion of at least 110,000 zealots, raring to take on Western armies and unafraid of elite U.S. Delta, Rangers and Seals or British S.A.S. commandos descending on their strongholds." They don't seem particularly credible.

Mind you everyone said the same thing about Iraq right before the Gulf War too. My suspicion is that everyone would look like a rabble after the kind of bombing the Iraqis and Afghanis have faced.

MEMRI is the best resource for all things Middle Eastern. It provides direct translations of the Arabic press. People say it's Israeli-biased but they also publish damning stuff about Israel. Great stuff. Eye-opening and spine-chilling.

Why is 'drudge-like' considered a term of praise?

Previous discussions of Debka's credibility from Nov 21, Oct 13, and Oct 6. In summary: biased, speculative, non-sourced. Or, as euphorb said, "Debka makes ananova look legit."

Read it long enough and you realize that much of the information is questionable. The bias, of course, is more immediately obvious.
