So you take a chunk of metal, heat it up real good and then pound it flat. I feel like I've heard about this technique before.

I have no idea how these people got their red hot nickel balls wedged into their hydraulic presses, or why.

The RHMB in the blender makes me super uncomfortable.

Also, there are multiple hydraulic press youtube channels now?

I liked the sad/dramatic music during the slow-motion replays in the RHNBs vs. Hydraulic Press video. It was like watching the lights in the Terminator's eyes dim and fade out.

Why specifically nickel though? Is it something to do with heat capacity or melting point?

when will we see a hydraulic press crush a hydraulic press

Damn it youtube. Why do you constantly recommend that I watch car reviews by Kryten from Red Dwarf after I checked it out once and didn't like it, but you fail to notify me at all that there are new things to watch on the Hydraulic Press Channel. The real one that is, not the surprisingly numerous imitations.

so there are two other Finns with two other hydraulic presses on two other YouTube channels that decided to knock off the first one once he got popular? does every Finn get issued a hydraulic press by their government when they reach the age of majority?

The RHNB channel is somewhat creepy anyway because the guy never says anything as he inexorably destroys things, but the steak one is like a kidnapper demonstrating what he will do to the thigh of the victim unless his ransom demand is met. Brrrrr.

Well here I was ready to explain the rationale of a nickel ball but I find I don't have to. Thanks, Thelonius.

RHNB vs. steak made me wonder if Youtube can set off my smoke detector
posted by thelonius at 2:22 PM on June 21, 2016

Sanspoint: the foam has very little mass, so the heat energy in the ball is plenty to cook it all. But the foam is also a good insulator, so it takes a long time for the heat to spread through it and cook it. Since the ball isn't touching anything else besides air (also a good insulator) there isn't anyplace else for the heat to go though, so you get that amazing slow-but-inexorable destruction.

Hydraulic Press Channel recently hit 100,000 subscribers, at which point Youtube sends you a nice silver YouTube play button in a frame.

They got theirs yesterday. Guess what happened?

Oh wow, in the link about the silver YouTube play button- why did that magnetize their platform? I know you can demagnetize things (scramble the poles) with heat or a shock, but this is more the opposite?

My personal favorite RHNB is the green Jello, which gibbers and shrieks like a Lovecraftian horror.

I did some quick calculations (maybe in the last RHNB thread?) and putting out one of these a week might make you at least a few hundred if the views remain consistent. Given steady demand for seeing a red hot glowing orb sear matter, you could potentially even live off of it. Same for the hydraulic press people (of which there are numerous imitators, and I've seen flame wars in the comments of people defending one over the other).

This is the 21st century media landscape. Red hot nickel balls and hydraulic presses compete for Acura's ad dollars.

This is a blessing. If I want pointless yammering ("Hello out there in Youtube-land!") I am spoiled for choice; it's refreshing to see a man acknowledge the poverty and futility of language, as compared to red-hot spheres.

Presseption means hydraulic press 1 is crushed by a larger hydraulic press 2. Press 2 is crushed by an even larger press 3. Press 3 is crushed by press 4. They actually did this. BRAUM
