Thanks for this. I needed something to help me shake off the Brexit blues.

Generally speaking I love this kind of funk/soul/R&B-influenced horn-heavy music, from James Brown to Tower of Power and Earth Wind and Fire to Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings. There's a lot to like about Breakestra, but the muddy production aesthetic combined with Mix Master Wolf's half-growled/half-pitched singing made it difficult for me to find something to hold onto in "Getcho Soul Together." Afrodyete's clear vocals made "Come on Over" the winner for me. With Mix Master Wolf singing, they would have a better effect for me if they cleaned up the overall sonic landscape. Definitely worth listening to in greater detail, though. Maybe my ears just need to settle in.

I love, adore, and cherish this band. To really experience them, you gotta see them live. But they broke up a few years back, no? Or at least seem to be on indefinite hiatus?
