That is perhaps the perfect encapsulation of what it was like to watch All That Jazz as a precocious kid of like 14, and then to watch it again decades later. Perfect.

The Wallace Shawn and Andre Gregory probing through the shelves was charming. "I don't particularly like to talk about films!"

"Guy Maddin" and "Edgar Wright" links go to the same place.. (Perhaps Edgar Wright got shoved into Guy Maddin's bag along with everything else?)

For me, it's the Criterion DVD of Silence of the Lambs. Not because of the movie. You can get better quality releases of the movie. The commentary track though, is one of the best commentary tracks I've ever heard for any movie.

Here's the S.o.t.Lambs commentary track

It's weird without the video, but it's pretty great.

I'm still waiting patiently for Criterion to refurbish 'Meet the Feebles'.

I once took a first date to see Blood Simple.

(in my defense, it had been a REALLY long time since I saw it and I'd totally forgotten the whole pin-his-hand-to-the-sill-with-a-knife scene.)

Man, were the Criterion folks just letting them take whatever movies they wanted? Fucking lucky!
