Please don't be a porn parody. Please, please, please.

Zoidberg porn though...

Their bio section is too detailed for this to be a porn film. I think it's just what it seems to be... a bizarre, mutated, cyclopean creation of love that should be chased back into the sewers where it belongs.

So difficult do do Leela right for this because of the eye. I remember one of the commentaries for the show where one of the designers or animators talked about how they try to usually show her from one side or other to kind of finesse the one-eye thing.

Zoidberg porn though...

I've seen enough Zoidberg to know where this is going...

I know I'm supposed to post a relevant quote, but I just can't stop thinking about that professor farnsworth. Like, it's disgusting but i want to touch it so bad

Yeah, that eye is giving me flashbacks to the Zaphod Beeblebrox's creepy 2nd head in the BBC version of H2G2.

Is Bender CGI? I think so, but it's hard to be sure. In The FAQ they imply that there's a minimum of sparkly computer stuff in the movie.
Q: Why didn’t you do everything with CGI?

A: It all comes down to Dan’s desire to use time-honored practical effects, plus Dan won’t upgrade his PC so we can actually run the proper software to do CGI. He claims he doesn’t want to lose his high score in Rogue.

I'm impressed by the attention to detail in one of the background characters but the voice work is so important and it is just not there.

I like the costumes, I like the sets, I even like the prosthetic makeup, but OH DEAR GOD the sound is atrocious - crappy location-recorded dialog, stock-sounding "dramatic" trailer music cranked to the point of distortion, horrendously recorded opening voiceover by someone trying and failing to do the "movie trailer guy" voice.

Dear indie film makers: sound is - minimum! - half of the movie-watching experience, and it's cheaper than ever to get decent results. Look into it.

I don't know, Zaphod's creepy second head at least got points for audacity. I'm afraid I don't think this even rises to that level.

Poke it with a stick.

As one does, in these circumstances.

The eye of Sauron was less terrifying than whatever that thing is on Leela's face.

I want to love this. But it's a real-life copy. They should interpret it. i.e. They nailed Hermes. But the professor, no. The professor should just be an old guy who can do funny physical comedy. Not a freaky makeup creation.
And yeah, Futurama is 75% the voices. The bender voice seemed pretty close.
E for effort.

I don't know how I feel about it, but if there's anything Futurama has taught me it's that neutrality is bad.

Only my 30th or 40th pass through FTOS...it would be good to see something new whatever the quality. Watching this with the sound off just now shows extreme promise.

Farnsworth keep reminding me of this guy, and is seriously creeping me out.

It's admirable, but I question whether it actually qualifies as "live action."

seriously, why not just give your Leela lead an eyepatch?

Fan-made productions like this sometimes do very impressive work with visual effects (considering that they're labors of love on shoestring budgets)...and not-so-impressive work with everything else.

Granted, it's hard to conclude too much from this trailer, but I catch more than a whiff of that here.

Acting, pacing, cinematography, a good script, comic / dramatic timing – all of these are more important than visual effects. Whatever else movies are, they are first and foremost stories. A play with wooden swords and painted backdrops can be hella gripping if the script and performance are right, and a play with lavish and painstakingly authentic sets and costumes can suck if they aren't.

I mean, I'll watch it, and it's certainly a neat project. It just seems like another fan production which is driven primarily by an FX artist rather than, like, a director.

I support this effort and apparently don't hate it as much as the rest of y'all. Wish there was information about when and how it's actually going to be released. I couldn't find any?

I don't hate it. The trailer was fun.

Looks like a trailer is all they have right now, and they'll finish the film... at some point in the future.
