I just came back from seeing this - I took my daughter and we both had a great time watching it. I hope they keep it up longer; there were a lot of people there, kids playing in the park, etc.

That's beautiful. I'll be in LA next weekend -- I wonder if I can convince mr. hippybear to walk around downtown with me and encounter this as part of our wanderings.

Hippybear, sad to say that it's only going to be up until August 11th. I went to check it out today and it's much more impressive in person and the way the light plays on it as clouds pass over the sun is really impressive. Sorry you're likely to miss it. Hopefully they'll extend its stay.

Aug 11 is literally the day I arrive, and we already have plans for that day.

Much weeping and sadness.

It's gorgeous, but the name is really unfortunate. A slight mispronounciation and you're wearing brown trousers.

You think they nicknamed that monstrous building in London "The Shard" on accident?

This is beautiful. I wish Washington, DC had more temporary outdoor artwork. What if Janet Echelman's piece for the Renwick had been outside??

I thought that one was because "things you don't want near your eyes."

I thought that one was because "things you don't want near your eyes."

That interpretation is changed how, exactly?

Or, you know... who am I to question your personal life....

Janet Echelman had an outdoor installation over the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston last summer. Brief documentary here. I worked right nearby and miss it!

Great piece of large art, WOW. Looks like river / creek grass in a flowing stream of water. Fluid dianamics of air on plastic streamers & bungee cords & metal cable. A#1

As luck would have it, my cousin was in LA visiting her daughter and they happened to be in the park yesterday, and she posted a little video of this on her Facebook page. She says it's very beautiful.

It's only going to be up until August 11th.

I have almost no free time, but I think I'll have a few hours on the 10th to just make it there and back.

Thanks for posting this!

Am I the only one who initially thought this post was titled "Liquid Shart"?

Wonderful installation! A long time ago, like 1969 I was in Toronto, and I helped an artist named Joy Walker, put in an installation of Urban Trees, at that public building built by Saarinen. She tied the trunks to the air vents around the edges and they blew into existence on the updrafts. I was a newbie in general at the time, though it seemed frivolous to me, I assisted her with the project. It was an awesome gift to help out. Later I understood the value. That piece in LA shimmers so, so elegant.
