Watched this yesterday on Crunchyroll. I thought it was beautiful. I know the point was to make a video for the music but I'd love to see it turned into a series, or miniseries.

Didn't we just have a post on this?

I'm not a fan of Porter Robinson's music generally, but that video is pretty great. It also caused a lot of nerds on reddit to have a big fight about the meaning of "anime".

Porter's brother Nick works for Polygon and is one half of CAR BOYS with Griffin McElroy. Unsurprisingly, it didn't take long for someone to put the two Robinson's work together.

There was an earlier thing like this from Porter Robinson and Mat Zo.

Neither my wife nor my 7yo daughter could make it through the Supergirl pilot. Something about the Superman origin that makes it a horror-show rather than a myth if the kid was old enough to realize and remember. Moses in a basket is one thing, this is another.

The second half of Seveneves is best understood as just this sort of endless horror and helplessness codified into DNA, reinforced with on-demand media documenting all of it - the worst of us and the best of us doing with all of that what we can, dealing with it how we're able.

There is a translation of an interview with Toshifumi Akai, who was director of 'Shelter' at A1 Productions, the anime studio that created the visuals. Sakugabooru is a relatively new website tracking some of the best 'sakuga' or anime visuals.

Do yourself a favor and try your best to avoid reading the description of this video and just watch it.

Anime reviewer Digibro did a roundup of anime music videos, inspired by the attention Shelter was getting.
