The last walkie for Walnut the Whippet. Hundreds of people joined a dog owner when he took his beloved but poorly whippet Walnut on a final walk.

Sweet Walnut! A bit longer video and more Walnut would have been nice, but very cool he got such a turnout. It's good to hear the dad has three more Whippets because a house with dog that suddenly becomes dogless makes the terrible thing that much moreso. (And yet, we put off getting a second dog and then it was too late. Gah.)

What a lovey. I'm glad he got his last "walk" on the beach in such good company.

Dearest of pups, thank you for gracing this earth with your sweet presence. I will spend the night dreaming of my own darling pup, who I wish I'd taken on more walks by the beach (though I am 99% sure he would have spent the majority of those excursions antagonizing every wave and sea lion he came across...)

Oh dogs! I have shed a lot of tears this week but it's been my wee little dog that has been so strong and resilient and brought so much joy. Glad that Walnut had such a loving send-off. We put our 16 year-old pup down last year and it is still so very raw. Lots of love to all dogs and Walnut's family.

It does make one appreciate the wordplay from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Someone just showed me this trailer for A Dog's Purpose. Seriously... WHO is going to watch that in the theater, KNOWING they are going to be sobbing?
