In a different age, the Harlem Globetrotters played a huge role in the ignorant and innocent country I lived in

Could have used more Sweet Georgia Brown, but aside from that, wonderful.

I saw Stomp over a decade ago, they were touring in San Francisco, and all the feels about where my relationship was at that time and seeing that they were still playing it and I went off to see if I could buy tickets again!

Not anywhere near SF any time soon, but this video has reminded me of how good live shows can be and how I need to drag (now) mrs straw to such an event again.

Mod note: Swapped the title with OP permission; moonwalking bear for anybody who doesn't know the reference

Yeah, suck it Goodfellas. The news article floating around said it took 7.

For about a year I had a second job as one of the ushers at the New York production of STOMP. I'm not entirely sure how I got the gig (it was a friend-of-a-friend thing), but it was pretty cool; it was me, a couple friends, and a bunch of high school students. One of the things we all loved doing was when someone asked us to try to explain what the show was about. One night someone even came to where us ushers were all standing around, and pointed at the word "Stomp" on his program. He didn't speak English, he explained, and he wanted to know what the word meant. We all just blinked, and then all stomped our feet in unison. "It means this."

He didn't quite get it.

The night we had an audience full of about 80 fourth-graders was the single most gloriously chaotic session of post-show autograph seeking I've ever seen.

Took my little boys to a touring production of STOMP when they were six, their first theater performance, and they were awed. They came home and tried to duplicate the stuff with brooms and trash cans. And now tomorrow it'll be basketballs in the driveway. Thanks; I needed this way more than I could have imagined.
