The snowball machine gun

Mark Rober was outgunned and outflanked by his nephews and nieces in (snowball) battle, and had to resort to developing a wunderwaffe: The snowball machine gun. Faced with similar problems? He has provided instructions on making your own.

Mark Rober is a gem of a person and a great uncle. If you enjoy science or have kids that do, you should really check out his youtube channel. He does a really, really good job of teaching you about something, while simultaneously teaching you secretly about how experimentation and science works.

a great uncle.

It's funny how far apart the behavior of great uncles and good fathers is.

This is going to end up with another Ecumenical Council, isn't it.

Not a fan of mechanized snowball machines getting used against kids. My stepfather beaned me in the face with one and bloodied my nose when I was little. I then let out a curse word and got in trouble. The injustice of the scenario was not lost on me. This, I imagine, is much, much worse.

What if the kids are assholes?

The kids are clearly standing on his (snowy) lawn. Fair game.

Yeah, when this escalates to crossbows with icicle bolts, he's a dead man.

I understand why he chooses Ghostbusters as the understandable pop culture reference, but, somewhere, a single tear is crystallizing on Mr. Freeze's rimed cheek.

LET'S KICK SOME ICE

I was surprised to discover that my memory had reverse leghorned ICE TO SEE YOU, which is McBain, not Mr. Freeze.

Are we not doing phrasing anymore?

!as it fudge? Only you didn't say fudge, you said THE word, the big one, the queen-mother of dirty words, the "F-dash-dash-dash" word?

this is pretty neat, I guess...

now, if only he also had an automated snowball former, then that would be cool.

I was reminded of this recent commercial. Just on the basis of general mayhem potential.

Eponysterical goatyology.

I was unaware of that term! But I have been living up to my handle lately. Apologies.

All he's done is set the kids up for revenge. Eight-year-old me would wait until there was a good heavy snowfall, ring his doorbell, run away, and have a couple of friends high-mark snowballs onto his roof as the door opens. Avalanchetastic!

I've got to admit I'd be impressed by something that combined the feed mechanism of a snowblower with something to automatically form and throw snowballs. I bet you could sell a lot of them.

When we were little kids, dreaming of how much more badass we were going to be once we grew up and could do what we wanted, this is what we were all dreaming of. Godspeed, Mr. Rober.

Calvin and Hobbes would approve. Well, Calvin would, anyway.
