MIT invents hydrogel robot fingers that can safely grab a live fish. Video of the fingers in action.
...the Soviets fixed the problem much more cheaply and quickly by using a net.

When I saw this I wondered how long it will be before some version of soft flexible robot arms are used by police to subdue people.
Apparently the police can shoot anyone they want with impunity so I'm not sure why they'd spend a million dollars on a soft robot vs a dime for a bullet.
