Since 2000, Daryle Jenkins has been tracking the activities of white supremacy groups and individuals linked to white supremacy. Jenkins' organization, One People's Project, has a mission to illuminate the players and activities involved in racist activities in the United States. His slogan: Hate has Consequences.

Jenkins attends right-wing events and documents them, and researches any racist background information from the past records of high-profile figures. When Jenkins or One People's Project volunteers find evidence of an individual advocating white supremacy, they publish the individual's name and actions.

The LA Times profiled Jenkins and his recent attendance at CPAC.
From the profile: "Jenkins said he often received emails from people asking him to remove their names from his website.
“Usually I get the email, ‘Please, I’ve grown up. I don’t want this hurting me any further.’” Jenkins said he often removed the information.
“Really, the only condition is that you’re not involved any more,” Jenkins said. “I just want you to stop being a Nazi! Is that too much to ask?”

Read articles, find or submit upcoming events for OPP to track, and find volunteer opportunities at onepeoplesproject.com.

I think this is awesome. I once googled my grandfather's name (he was a Holocaust survivor and a few articles have been written over the years about his story) and one of the first results was a brief thread about his "sob story" on Stormfront. It felt like a weird invasion of privacy even though of course anyone can say anything they want to on the internet. But I'm really glad that Daryle Jenkins is making it harder for these people to hide behind the privacy of their Stormfront screen names and white supremacist get-togethers.

Holy crap! Daryle Lamont Jenkins! I remember him from my days in New Brunswick, NJ - he was a fixture in the punk rock / activism scenes there. I'm so glad to see this posted here as I'd lost track of him over the years. Thanks!!

“I just want you to stop being a Nazi! Is that too much to ask?”

This needs to be the slogan of 2017.

Well, and every other year, but especially 2017.

I've known daryle for years, and I couldn't be happier that he's finally getting some recognition for his work. He's one of the best, kindest, and fearless activists I've ever worked with.

Oops, hit enter post too soon.

He's been doing this stuff for decades, and it's partially through his efforts like monitoring cpac that people have any dirt on the shady connections of mainstream Republicans.

More importantly to me, though, is his efforts to help individuals who got mixed up in white power scenes and realized it wasn't for them. For all of his agitating, he's always valued communication. You wouldn't think he'd find compassion in his heart to extend to white nationalists, but he does. He sees a lot of them as confused lost souls in search of a community, which is amazing conside ring the bullshit he takes from stormfront, etc.

Capnsue- I have a bunch of vhs tapes in my parents closet of show recordings he did in the early 90s! Any chance you're in any of those?

I'm a bit envious of you all who know him because he's my new hero. The LA Times article refers to him as a white supremacy ghostbuster, and I thought that was apt. His willingness to engage in debate with these angry people, his sort of cheerful glee when confronting their hostility, and his ability to extend forgiveness to them - I just think it's astonishing. (Also ahem, the opp website does have a link to a gofundme page. Wasn't sure if I should include that in the fpp. Actually, I hope the entire fpp was okay, it's one of my firsts. He really inspired me to post!)

So basically, retreading the work already being done by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

And perhaps tapping into the donor streams that have netted that crew an endowment of over $300,000,000.

Right? There can't possibly be room for multiple folks exposing and fighting racists, fascists, and Nazis! YOU'RE EITHER WITH US OR AGAINST US!

The tiny fraction of the revenue streams or institutional support that even major groups like the SPLC get compared to white supremacist organizations and their media enablers means that people fighting it are totally in it for the money. Besides, haven't you heard? Since Trump is besties with people like Ben Carson and Jared Kushner and Peter Thiel, obviously Jews and Muslims and PoC and LGBTQ folks are safe. Plus, Ivanka really wants to help women and children! Sure, it's really only as long as they are already financially well-off that the diversion of resources would disproportionately hurt middle- and working-class women and families, but such is the difference between the bootstrapping go-getters who inherit vast amounts of wealth and the unwashed masses.
