Thanks for posting this.

Just want to leave this here: Up & Down. It's a great performance, check it out if only for a couple minutes of great piano from Parlan at 5:10, then listen to the whole thing. I love this because it's Grant Green and Parlan together and their styles mesh so well. It's the sort of music that you can have on as background for people who would otherwise be "jazz...schmazz" but then they might tune in for a second and be like "Oh. I like this. Who is this?"

Or you can sit down to have a deep listen to it because it's so good.

I'm not a jazz player, but the first jazz album I ever bought and sat down with was Mingus Ah Um, on which Parlan played piano and that was formative for me liking some really good music.

So thanks, sir. That was some fantastic piano playing.

Dang. I just recently got into Horace Parlan, I think through his work on Blues and Roots. . for a singular talent.
