Honor to the President!

The most outrageous thing about Donald Trump is that there is no most outrageous thing. Two weeks ago the Russians featured their pal, President Donald Trump, with his own postage stamp. This is the first time the Russians have ever honored a U.S. president, and while the Russian issued the stamp without explanation, it doesn't take a genius to see what is going on here.

Aw, we all get so caught up in the pranks and the tricks, that we wind up forgetting the true meaning of April Fools day, which is... err...

hmm.

I'm pretty sure I used to know it

Actually I heard the opposite: that the Trump administration has called for a special stamp featuring Putin; they don't want to be the only ones licking his backside.

Yes the fake news is all a smoke screen. We all know that some of Hillary's emails have Russian postage stamps on them.

In Soviet Russia, stamp licks you!

Why no, I do not have anything substantive to add.

I think if we're going to have April Fool's jokes, they can be ones that only make the person that falls for them look silly, not their entire worldview. Like this, maybe.

There's no need to celebrate April Fool's Day anymore; every day is April Fool's Day.

Lord it's so hard to read FB first thing in the morning when you don't realize it's April 1. I was all up in an article about fungi being added to the Animal Kingdom when.... ah.

Anyway, here's a snippet from my as-yet-unpublished zine, in keeping with The most outrageous thing about Donald Trump is that there is no most outrageous thing.:

(Tigger mode: activate)

The terrible thing about Trumps
is Trumps are terrible things!

Their hearts are made out of metal
their promises come with strings!

They're flouncy, pouncy, trouncy, countsy
not even a little bit fun

And the terrible, terrible thing about Trump
is that he has three sons!

I'm often tempted to stay off the internet on April 1, but if I did I would miss brilliant things like Calvin County, a "comic merger for a divided time."

I fell for it. My excuse is that I just woke up and haven't had a cup of tea yet. Also it's STILL SNOWING and that's a much worse joke.

I'm disappointed that The Onion doesn't consist solely of real news today.

No, this is alternative news.

On this day when we traditionally celebrate fake news in the name of fun and frivolity, can we end the taboo on 'bullshit'? Fake news, alternative facts, post truth... all these fuzzy words when we already have a word for it, that displays the contempt and derision it deserves. An honest word, a true word:

"Sean Spicer, our press secretary, gave bullshit facts to that," Conway said.

See how much better that sounds?

valkane: ThinkGeek is always my April 1 go-to.

And they always have a few (Westworld Full-Body Snake Temporary Tattoo: DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ANYTHING TO US, Includes bonus "The Maze" tattoo; Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Flying Disc, and more ... but they're actually for sale?)

empath: Daft Punk is touring.
“Each show will be presented in 4D sound: this version of Daft Punk will be so real that you will be able to see, hear, touch and taste us.”

“It will be pure R△CK and R▽LL.”
...
“Their public image is fairly anonymous, but they’re actually very connected to social media and are hyper aware of what’s going on. When the fans suffer, they suffer.”

Russian Foreign Ministry announces new phone system for diplomatic services. (0:28 for English)

I was hoping they'd get something in for the holiday. They have a pretty good shitpost game going sometimes on @RusEmbUSA though nothing for today yet. I've tried translating some of the @USEmbRu tweets a couple times and saw nothing to match...

How can there be a MOST OUTRAGEOUS when when it is all outrageous.
If you tried to sell a script featuring him as the villain, it would be rejected as being far too unrealistic.

Kodi's prank was a bit too on the nose. They replaced their website with a fake FBI domain seizure notice. Needless to say, many people freaked out bigly. It didn't help that there has been a lot of noise from LE and copyright holders in various jurisdictions over the past few weeks. God forbid a media player be a thing that exists, since someone might make it play videos from file locker websites or BitTorrent or something evil like that.

They US Post Office actually already did a trial test of some stamps featuring Trump. There were a lot of complaints though, that the stamps weren't sticking to envelopes properly. The stamps were returned to a lab for analysis, but after several rounds of testing, they couldn't find anything wrong with the adhesive. After conducting some more interviews with the test users, the answer became clear -- turns out people had been spitting on the wrong side.
