I only heard the hit singles off the first album, but her style intrigued me. I enjoyed reading this and might dig into her music a bit more. Thanks for posting!

Four years on, Pure Heroine is the one and only CD I own that I can listen to straight through while driving, then immediately play the entire ten songs over again. It is just that brilliant. I'm pretty surprised my copy has survived the intensity of the heavy rotation I put it through, on the daily!

I am sooooo ready for Melodrama to drop, the anticipation is killer. The two tracks she teased have not disappointed in the least. Her appearance on Saturday Night Live was phenomenal, especially Liability -I thought she was trying to dress as a bride, or something... I giggled that she mentioned "a moth" was more the aesthetic she was shooting for. So adorkable.

Gods, I could rabbit on about her for hours. :D Thank you for the share, divabat, made my day.

Was only slightly aware of Lorde till a few days ago, when a music video channel was playing in the background while I was working. Green Light came on, and the exact moment the piano unexpectedly kicked in was a complete and instantaneous distraction from work and everything else. For me, personally, winter abruptly finished and this summer started then.

I wasn't that fussed on green light and was going to wait for the album to drop, but holy shittttttt this live performance of it is amazing.

For me, personally, winter abruptly finished and this summer started then.

What a great way to put it, Wordshore! Agreed.

Also commenting again, to generally remark that the fact she has synesthesia fascinates me. As one who has total aphantasia, I literally cannot even imagine what seeing colors for sounds is like. Yet, I could follow the descriptiveness within the article to come away with a notion that made complete sense. Seems a glorious trait for a singer/songwriter to possess. I realize other musical artists have it as well, but it just seems so fittingly apt in her case. I can only envy those who can easily visualize, as a group, much less individuals with that added special layer to such an ability. Boggles my mind! :)

Don't miss the Green Light 'Creme Egg' remix! She is very talented and grounded and funny. I'm excited to hear the album.

The "Liability" costume from SNL gave me strong Bowie flashbacks, specifically to his Pierrot stagewear circa Ashes To Ashes/Scary Monsters.

erebora: Thanks to your sharing of this gem, I did not miss it, whereas same could have easily slipped my notice otherwise. Lorde × creme eggs + "Green Light" alt lyrics = advertising gold

Cadbury has juuuust enough time to make this happen before Easter. They'd best 'hop' to it!!

I also found the discussion of her synaesthesia and her approach to composing fascinating. It really hit home to me what it means "to have a gift".

I'm pretty excited for this and I really liked reading about her and how she writes. I love her album but beyond that didn't think about her much.

But "Green Light" especially with the music video gives me those weird tingles of nostalgia for a place you haven't been. Like walking around downtown late at night without a care in the world while also having so much emotion. I feel like I've been her wandering around with headphones working through stuff.

Of Monsters and Men music gives me that same "I haven't been there but I feel like I'm remember my life" feels too.

It's so weird to think of Lorde composing her new album in a booth of the diner I walk by everyday that kinda forget exists cause it's so generic

"David Bowie clasped Lorde’s hands in his and proclaimed that listening to her music 'felt like listening to tomorrow.'" What a wonderful thing to have happened and what a burden to bear.

When I read that, I thought "wow, the tingle that ran up her spine at that moment must have been a mixture of thrill and dread".

I bet if Lorde studies Bowie across his career, she'll come out pretty much where we all would like her to be 30-40 years from now.

The Whelk: Envious!! Had I that sort of proximity, and easy access, I would be camping out in that diner for a glimpse of Lorde. Not to stalk or bother her (swear!), but for the delight of watching Lorde watching elderly people eating fries, while creating her music. How fun to possibly witness art in the making! ;)

🎶Because I wanna eat fries (fries)
I'm old in a di-i-iner...
And I'll prove (I'll prove I'll prove)
To be appropriate inspiration.🎶
