You're warming up for the new season of Twin Peaks next month. You've watched the previous series and Fire Walk With Me; you've read The Secret Diary Of Laura Palmer; you're reading recaps and analysis... but have you heard Diane... The Twin Peaks Tapes Of Agent Cooper? [45m] Originally released only on cassette, sort of in the wild now due to its inclusion in the Internet Archive [download link available].

Oh man, now this is an evening treat. Off to make some coffee & google cherry pie recipes with this in the background.

45 minutes of Kyle Maclachlan saying beautiful nothings! A fine thing for a Sunday.

Who knew sleep deprivation could lead to temporary insanity?

I had those tapes! I think I might still have them in one of my ancient boxes.

So, next time, I need to put a tape recorder in my log, huh?

One of my favorite lines from this.

The other? "Death is seldom kind and never fair." I've thought about that a lot over the past twenty-five years, reversing it, inverting it, conversing it (is that a verb? to make the converse of a statement?). I'm still undecided on the fairness of death.

I went on a very brief kleptomania spree in the eighth grade, almost entirely consisting of Twin Peaks literature/assorted paraphernalia, almost entirely from the waldenbooks(?) at smith haven mall. I'm gonna presume since I had this that it was part of that phase.

"If I got paid that much for being wrong 60% of the time, that'd be living."

I'm unsure if I remember it verbatim, but I still use this as my contribution to weather talk. Thank you, Coop. Thank you, short period of illegal activity.

I remember having these way back when. Can someone give a summary of the 45 minutes, and if anything extra is revealed?

I OWNED THIS! And listened to it over and over and over. Sadly, I think it got lost in the Great House Break-in of Christmas 1993. (I still have the book of the Diary of Laura Palmer and the Twin Peaks tourism guide. What a nerd.)

I'd forgotten how HUGE an influence Cooper's enthusiasm for the PNW was on my own decision to move up here. "the air here is as fresh and crisp as a cracker" And now I'm looking out of an office window onto a vista that includes quite a few pines/firs swaying in a bit of a breeze.

My brain decided that "firs" would be read as "fires" and then I realized by July that will probably be correct, too.

Well, I went ahead and made a podcast RSS for the file, so you you should be able to save and download and redownload it as you’d like: https://is.gd/coops_tapes

Also, no.
