On April 23rd, 2017, the Pacific Order of Onomatopoeia Professionals held its First Annual Regional Terminology Summit at the Alaska Robotics “Comics Camp.” At this summit, The Order discussed onomatopoetic solutions to many sound-effects problems common to the sequential arts. The Order’s proceedings and conclusions have been recorded and summarized and are available in the document linked [here] (pdf).

a. a Hasbro-brand TransformerTM transforming:
choom-choom-choom-BRAK BRAK BRAK

This is wrong. It is BROO-KOO-Ka-Ke-kee.

Which gets reversed when transforming the other way.

Can't believe they got the Hasbro Transformer sound so wrong.

To me, "ee urr arr" is the closest of the options given, but none of them seem right.

Granted, I'm not a professional onomatopoet, but come on.

Who doesn't love the beautiful FWOMP of winter giving way to spring?

I hope they meet again in 6 months, I'm looking forward to their Second Hemi-Annual Regional Terminology Summit.

How can I trust an onomatopoetic panel that uses the acronyms POOP and FARTS rather than an acronym that spells out the sound of pooping and farting?

I wish they'd addressed the pressing matter of how to spell the Law And Order "jing JUNG" transition sound.

Came for the Everything Else, stayed for the Transformers video closed captions.

I'm not sure how to onomatopeotically convey the laugh-stifling sounds I just made at my desk. Hrnf-hrnf-hrnf maybe.

Fun fact: the person who taught me the word "onomatopoeia" was Ronald McDonald.

Please, these people are professionals. They wouldn't go out of their way to rename their organization and meeting so it would spell out POOP FARTS. They just made the most logical, descriptive names they could think of and the fact that they happen to spell out POOP FARTS is completely coincidental. In fact it is you who is childish for finding the name POOP FARTS funny.

They sadly neglected to take note of how often "FOOP" has appeared as a sound effect* in GoComics.com, let alone in other** contexts.

I'm still working with my lawyers in regard to a proper response to Piers Anthony using "Swell Foop" as a title for one of his Xanth books, but apparently the makers of the Fairly Oddparents cartoon were within their rights to name the Evil Twin of the Fairy "Poof" ... "Foop". But there are some things I simply will not tolerate.

*and it is not uncommon for a small "foop" to be followed by a large "FOOM"
** and "Foop's Drugs" is where I get all my easter candy AND prescriptions
