I wasn't sure, and then it just kept getting better and better.

I am going to call that a win for Tom, for sheer effort AND athleticism.

I have watched this many, many times, and it has made me feel feelings.

I think one of the things I like best about it is the opening joke-- the implication that he's going to do the tired old Gene Kelly impression, play it safe, do some halfhearted softshoe, etc etc. And then he blows it up and gives it his all and I was like "I love you. You have my heart, spider-child."

Basically if Tom Holland and Zendaya would like to be genderfluid bffs and cultural impresarios for the next several years, I AM INTO IT.

Holland got his start in showbiz doing Billy Elliott: The Musical in the West End, including as the lead. This isn't a lark, in other words.

You can watch the whole episode here (at least until that gets taken down).

This is a hard one to judge. The song choices in this case actually are equal, they're all popular songs to interact with the audience. And while they both have very good showmanship, Tom seems to know how to press the right buttons with the crowd to get that oomph factor for his performances. However, in terms of lip syncing and embodying the original artists, Zendaya wins hands down. So it comes down to what you prefer out of your lip sync battles. I like a balance of both imitation ability as well as entertainment quality, and this is a dead tie to me.

I enjoyed all that though!

(ps they sometimes also made goofy dance videos together during their Spiderman days)

I think Joseph Gordon Levitt is still the one to beat in this show.

Lip Sync Battle.

Incorrect, Jenna Dewan Tatum remains the one to beat. This is...probably nsfw.

Though honestly, all the best lip sync battles have some element of delightful, fully committed and wholly earnest genderfuckery going on.

And here's their YouTube channel.

Jenna Dewan Tatum was doing her husband's routine from Magic Mike XXL on top of her husband who is Channing Tatum and so yeah I think that makes it amazing. Thank you so much for letting me know about this

Oh my lord, what an amazing internet rabbit hole to fall down! I thought Tom Holland and Joseph Gordon Levitt were the hotness, but that Jenna Dewan Tatum vid...daaaamn. I feel like LL Cool J's reaction face in every single vid, all raised eyebrows and huge smile of dazzled delight. Thanks for posting this, I really needed a fun distraction :D

Oh my lord, what an amazing internet rabbit hole to fall down!

Don't go too far, you'll discover that Zachary Quinto cannot dance. I am so sad.

But it's always me who ends up getting wet.

I have put my whole heart into hoping that Zendaya will end up playing Mary Jane Watson against Holland's Peter Parker.

This is my new relationship goal.

I, too, want to be in a relationship with Channing Tatum

Point of order - if Holland had tried to embody Rihanna accurately, he would not have been allowed to dance because everyone knows Rihanna can't dance.

Is it possible to be in love with someone's arms? Because I think I just fell in love with Tom Holland's arms.

Just for clarification, I wouldn't be interested in them unattached or anything.

Never watched this show because I am old, but damn, LL Cool J is 49 and he's still on MTV? Does the audience know who he is? Cuz I had to look up who Tom Holland is.

I don't think he's really doing drag, per se. I realize I'm splitting hairs here. But he isn't padded, he doesn't have drag makeup on; he's wearing women's clothes and makeup, but he isn't really embracing that larger-than-life performative femininity that I think of as the essence of drag.

This is one of the reasons I love LSB, btw. Men don't have to "become" women in order to perform women's songs. When the Rock lip-synced to "Shake It Off," the performance he gave was joyful, energetic, and girlish without him being any less The Rock than he ever is.

I may not be explaining what I mean very well. But LSB is very playful around gender in a way that I find incredibly refreshing.

LL Cool J is 49 and he's still on MTV? Does the audience know who he is?

They probably think of him as that guy from NCIS: Los Angeles, along with Chris O'Donnell, Linda Hunt, and the late Miguel Ferrer (although he may also be known through the enduring popularity of the original Robocop).

Also agree with KathrynT WRT the way that gender is addressed on the show. One of the things that makes JGL's version of "Rhythm Nation" so awesome is that he plays it 100% straight (pardon the expression).

It's quite strange and surprisingly enjoyable to actually feel your Kinsey number increment by 1 in real time.

For sheer glee and happiness, my money remains on the Marvelous battle of Clark Gregg with "Toxic" vs. Hayley Atwell's "Bad Romance".

I mean, there's absolutely zero reservation or worry on his face or in his moves (and the 'passenger' he pulls up is his wife, Jennifer Grey, which works out), and Atwell... well, I don't think she does as well, but maaaaan, it's got to be hard to try to ape Lady Gaga at that level.

OMG, Josh Gad performing "I Touch Myself" as Donald Trump and I'm dead.

My only complaint about the JGL one is that it's over too soon. It needs to be at least seven times as long.
