Eh. He started out in show biz as a child. He likely has no other marketable skills. He matured as an artist in an age where record sales decline dramatically, and in a genre where visible displays of financial success are expected.

I mean, there are more deserving targets.

So we have news about a bunch of random people making fun of a minor celebrity for posting something fake by posting fake things themselves.

Have we reached peak "fake news"?

I thought it was funny

It's not as if making fun of someone for putting on airs doesn't have literally centuries of precedence.

Bow Wow may or may not be a minor celebrity but those Bowwowchallenge examples were pretty funny.

I think this is less about mocking Bow Wow's goof, and more about the creative ways to fake wealth/success/status. Some of them are really funny.

Back in my day, our Bows had twice the Wow.

(I chuckled at the #Bowwowchallenge. This one was pretty clever.)

These are really funny. I particularly like on vacation in Hawaii. I love seeing people be creative and I like people having the piss taken out of them when they've been caught on so cheers for the post.

Boob knees was great:

* The facial expression is itself a well-done parody of typical shots involving non-knees
* The photo of the setup itself could easily be a stand-alone drag with the right caption
* The photo might be a great dating site photo for gauging shallowness on first in-person meetup

However, I will say such nice nice knees are a marker of privilege, they have not spent near enough time crawling around on the floor trying to find dropped stuff with the rest of us. #fumblelife

The bowwowwow challenge dropped precipitously in meme popularity indices after one too many participants collapsed after ingesting too much candy.

The great thing about it is that they're not just making fun of Bow Wow, but also poking fun at their own comparatively humble circumstances, and pointing out how inherently ridiculous the whole concept is of trying to look momentarily wealthy on Instagram since literally anybody can do it. If you think about it, it's an interesting commentary on materialism in general.

I think it is also a meta-commentary on the way that many if not most young people "front" and try to give false impressions on social media today. Young mr Bowwow isn't the only one pretending on instagram!

Ironically, had he tweeted that he was "simply" flying first class instead of private plane for environmental reasons, that wouldn't have been a (total) lie and he would be celebrated.

Or maybe I don't understand the culture well enough. But pretty sure his publicist is fired tomorrow.
