This is a sorrowful and wonderful tale. Hope for the future lies in returning to the past.

The good news is that the upstream dams on the Klamath are supposed to be coming out fairly soon (given the uncertainties of the new administration, and the long timelines for dam removal at the best of times). But the bad news is that the outlook overall for salmon is getting dire. It's yet another blow to the tribal groups that have already weathered so many others.

Lived for a time in Tolowa territory, so the Yurok people are pretty familiar. Thanks for posting this.
