stairs [sprightly music] and many other things. Also a puppy versus sleep [ambient noise].

That puppy versus sleep was adorable!

In the suggested videos sidebar, though, there was this, where another puppy is trying desperately to stay awake to guard a baby human, but... well, maybe he can guard while lying down if he lies down very very close...

I know nothing dogs, so why is it that they don't want to use their back legs on stairs? (the slide-downs were adorbs)

Yeah, I think the stair-surfing dogs know how to use stairs better than we do.

Stairs are for bipeds, clearly.

I'd have to imagine carrying your St. Bernard down the stairs on a regular basis would get old pretty quickly but it sure is fun to watch.

To be fair to that Siberian, I am also terrified of Julia Roberts.

I don't understand why the puppy vs. sleep video was worth filming, much less watching. (Or why anyone would spend time with puppies except in order to turn them into well socialized adult dogs.)

But dogs vs. stairs is the most delightful thing I've seen in months. I'm on team "leap into the bushes" dog.

Also, in the spirit of Chickens vs. Piano, which may be tenuously connected to the post, but is also great fun, vultures vs. formal dinner.

As usual, don't read the comments. "LOL My dog is scared of (food)!" "That's because (food) is TOXIC TO DOGS YOU ARE KILLING HIM OMG YOU SHOULD BE SHOT"

Right, because dogs really know what is toxic to them.

Dog: "Want chocolate!"

Me: "No, Steven- you are a dog. Chocolate is very bad for dogs."

Dog: "No! I person! Want chocolate!"

Cat: "C'mon- give him the chocolate.

I get his bed."

By all rights "Gordo Falls Asleep During Play Time" should have been called "Gordo Tickled to Death."

My husband and I are currently in escrow, getting our first house. As soon as we move in, we want to get a puppy or young dog. So this post is both delightful but also feeding into my current pupper obsession.

Right, because dogs really know what is toxic to them.

This is what it's like to be a dog:

Oh boy! Sea water! Yum! GLUG GLUG GLUG GLUG GLUG

Uhhhh I don't feel so good. *PUUUKE*

Oh boy! Puke! Yum!

I don't know when I've derived more pleasure from a video series.

I thank you for this and for your many other posts.

That is all, besides my kindest regards.

I encourage you to give going down stairs head-first on your hands and knees/feet a try. It probably feels at least a little precarious.

My dog is terrible at stairs so this video is half cute and half anxiety-inducing. I moved into a new apartment partially for him because he couldn't manage the 3 flights up to the old apartment anymore (combination of always being bad at stairs, weakening legs, and declining eyesight as he gets older). I'm not carrying an 80lb dog up or down stairs.
