Not only do we have the recent announcement of Mega City One a planned television series set in the Judge Dredd universe (this guy is excited), the fan film Search / Destroy based on another of 2000AD's beloved stories, Strontium Dog, has appeared by the makers of the Judge Dredd fan film Judge Minty (previous)

The 2000 AD Thrill-Cast: Judge Dredd: Mega-City One

(Like Dredd, Strontium Dog was also co-created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra)

I am very much looking forward to Mega City One. I hope they can capture the aesthetic and feel of the excellent film.

Dredd was at its best in the Thatcher years. I'm holding out for a dystopian satire rooted firmly in the present day.

And I think maybe Rob Schneider is free

That does sound exciting.

Tag at the end of the first link says 400 million citizens, does that mean it will be set post apocalypse war?

Strontium Dog needs a very sweary Middenface McNulty

The biggest disappointment for me over the Urban film's lack of big box office success was that they were talking about doing Judge Death in the next film.

Wow, that Judge Minty actor looks a lot like Last Tango in Paris era Brando.

I enjoyed the Strotium Dog fan film, James, but it needed more Middenface.

I've lived in Milton Keynes, and that was no Milton Keynes accent.

Really excited by this, and the hints they might go beyond Judge Dredd and do some other stuff -Strontium Dog would seem a strong choice.

Oh, and if anyone wants to hear me talking about the Dredd movie I was on the Lawton Bus podcast recently doing just that.

If the poster is anything to go on - they've moved a bit from the flat NY with occasional mega-block to a more, curvy elevated roadway with flying cars look. Which is great - because the eccentricity of the city is part of the charm of the setting.

I will watch this but with a tincture of nostalgia for what might have been...

My memories of 2000AD are rooted in my big brother, I inherited his collection in the early 80s. A brief sojourn in Elephant in Castle made the fictional Mega-City resonate as an all-too-real dystopia. Color me confused on why Judge Joe gets all the attention. I never saw Dredd as more than a wallpaper Eastwood-ripoff and vastly preferred the more colourful ensemble cast of Pj Maybe, Chopper and Andersen etc.

I was and am a huge fan of other 2000AD content. Stuff like Halo Jones, Dr & Quinch, Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dogs, ABC Warriors and Zenith stories, I soon left for the more predictable episodic and adult Gaimen, Pekar, Clowes, Sim et al. I rejoined as a subscriber 10 years ago and was delighted to see the same bonkers content moderation was still in play...

My vote is to mine the less locked-in content, Dredds probably optioned to the moon. Look to Marvel/DC verse-a-palooza and start the belters mining the alternative content!
