The song is forgettable, but the video... I... I think I kind of like Macklemore now.

Should I see a doctor?

I watched this video this morning, and it made my damn (rainy, at work) day.

My exposure to Macklemore is limited to this and "Thrift Shop" (the sax hook from which I caught myself whistling the other day), and he seems like an awesome guy.

Should I see a doctor?

I don't believe a superabundance of Mackle is a widely recognized clinical diagnosis.

He's wearing MY grand-dad's clothes though.

Here in the PNW, we recommend you Mackle more. Elsewhere, perhaps folks find it safer to monitor their exposure levels. But 4 out of 5 doctors recommend against Mackling less. *The (Mackle) more you know!

So a couple of years ago, we were in Spokane for my sister in law's wedding. One day, my husband's cousin came back to our hotel all excited.

He said he was standing in the checkout line at the nearby Rite Aid when he realized the guy with a kid behind him was Macklemore. He didn't say anything to him, but thought it was a pretty cool chance encounter.

Now, here's the thing. Said cousin's mother is a serious quilter who repurposes old clothes to make her quilt patterns. She had been talking up going on a thrift shopping excursion the next day to see if she could find some interesting stuff.

People were asking him "Oh wow. Did you say anything to Macklemore?" and he was all like "No, I didn't want to be that guy."

My contribution to the conversation was something to the effect: "So you passed up an opportunity to ask Macklemore if he wanted to go thrift shopping with your mom?"

He was like, "Aw. Shit."

Aw that's a great video. The shot at the end driving down the levee through the golden hills is pure Central Valley. Also Runaround Sue's, the karaoke dive. Love this yelp review: "Cheap drinks but I won't go here again. Lots of thugs & bar flies. It was dirty & the vibe was tense. After there were two fights we called our cab & called it a night"

Does this mean it's OK to like Macklemore now?

Well, the Modesto connection provides the best explanation of Macklemore to date. Could've been slightly more Fresno...

Yes. As long as you admit that Sage Francis is better.

(don't watch that last video in public if kitty stories make you cry)

I will be flying to Fresno Monday morning for work (from New Orleans), so this is oddly coincidental for me.

Thanks for the wishes. Hope I'll have a chance to swing by Yoshi Now! as it looks fascinating. Would not have known it was even there without you guys.

Here's coincidental: my wife and I lived in that exact townhouse complex, a few hundred feet from Macklemore's grandma, until two months ago. Literally, the first shot of the video is the part of the complex where we'd exit into the neighborhood twice daily while walking our dogs. We lived there almost seven years and nothing nearly this cool ever happened, and right after we buy a house a move a couple of towns away to somewhere a little nicer....

(and Bringer Tom, if your Fresno trip requires travel up CA-99 at all, am happy to provide libations in Turlock!)

That was so wonderfully sweet. Helen is a really kickass grandma. Sniff.
