Avalon? Who the hell does Melanie think she is? Stevie Nicks?

I know Britney Spears and believe me, Melanie is no Britney Spears....where are the shots of Don Johnson?

My god! From the looks of that site Melanie now resides in Barbie's New Age Dream House.

"Pweeeease, sign my guest book..." This site's been around for at least a year, and is just as scary now as it was back then...

She seems to reside in a cheesy interactive CD-ROM, circa 1995.

that's hilarious. apparently this hosts file i downloaded blocks out ~90% of her site.

I write this with the hope that these "Journalistic People" will see this and get the real truth and get it right! Because our children hear these stories too and it breaks my heart when they ask "Why Mommy? Why Poppy? Do they write these things?"

Those journalistic people. Damn them.

I wonder if she actualy *surfs* the web. I wonder how much she paid for that site. Ahh. No I don't.

She's just your average Geocities lamer with a lot more money.

This is also a good example of why people who are not web-designers should not design web pages.

Anyone want to join the Goddess Club? Oh wait, it isn't open yet. Damn.

I wonder if she actualy *surfs* the web.

I have it on good authority that Melanie actually visits Metafilter. In fact, she's a fairly well-known user.

Welcome to Avalon, where we shovel vaseline onto the camera lens by the pound and the airbrushing never ceases...

*laughs until beer comes out nose*

You're wrong. I know aaron and he'd never vacuum topless.

He does on the pay bit of his site.

Previous thread, for those just that curious.

strangely, there's a whole bit about melaniegriffith.com in Dave Weinberger's new book, "Small Pieces Loosely Joined: a Unified Theory of the Web." He uses it to illustrate a point about "local" fame on the Web, but I got distracted by the thought of Weinberger actually surfing the site and explaining to curious onlookers that he was "doing research."

To answer the question originally asked, I know Kelsey Grammer isn't jealous. He got in on the action himself...

(sorry, new poster. Don't know how to make those cool color-coded-word links)

Oops. Still learning. Sorry to slow the process. Will try elsewhere. Thanks for the link, justlooking!

I think you had too many spare spaces, justlooking.

Herc, save the above formula into a Word file called "html", and use it whenever you need to.

BUT, what's the point of HTMLising a link? It takes a few minutes to do, and I've seen too many smart people muck it up over and again, when just the www.link works perfectly well with cut and paste.

The sequence of failures usually goes -

link.

damn.
Try again.

Grrr, why isn't it working?

I give up.

Damn. Ban HTML from the web!

so, herc, you see that little link button in shortcuts at the bottom of the comment box? If you paint the word you want to link and then click on the link button, voila!

JeffBridges.com is kind of nice. I don't know how much of the site was actually designed or done by him, since the webmaster is someone named Nicky. Click on STUFF to see some stuff.
