Mr. Shinn was 6'6" tall and the librarians were told to remember his face?

His wife would watch soap operas all day while he went to the library. She could not understand the $100,000 bail. People take books from the library all the time.

The movie would write itself. +1 to Hermione Granger's suggestion of a movie!

dude did 13 fucking years for stealing books!? I know a guy who got 11 for walking up to a rival gang member in broad daylight and putting a bullet through his head.

At first I was like hmm maybe Matt Damon could play him, this sounds like a Matt Damon role

But 6'6" is like Conan O'Brien territory and Damon just does not measure up

So I googled "actors taller than 6'5" " and Google in all its glory gave me the perfect answer:

Tim Robbins

If Robin Williams gets away with playing Patch Adams, Matt Damon can play Shinn.

And in a similar vein, The Map Thief.

Oh my god, this guy is history's greatest monster.

Do not steal rare books! The revulsion flows through me.

Look's like this thread needs Jason Shiga's BOOKHUNTER. Kicking ass and collecting late fees, because books are - information is - serious business.

Did anyone else picture Joe Manganiello (Alcide from True Blood) in a black bodysuit accidentally doing a shoulder roll into a microfiche machine? with a delicate pair of glass balanced on his nose?

If he can't do it, maybe Channing Tatum can do this with the Coen Brothers directing.

2 of 5 stars:

This story seemed like someone's attempt to make book thievery dashing and underhanded. Next time I'll just Kindle it.

"...he researchers have found shoe polishes that could be used to obscure marks of sanding to remove identification, a hollowed dictionary that could be used to carry books, a master key for a ''barrel'' lock, lock-picking tools, a device to detect theft prevention magnets and a revolver, Mr. Jones said."

Ok ok, when shoepolish, hollow books and revolver are involved, your gonna get caught.

No working in the prison library.
