Michael Stipe has one screen credit that I know of, as Captain Scrummy. He was co-starring with Kate McPhearson of the B52's, and they were both minor but essential characters.

My moustache is longer, though.

And Stipe also has a septum piercing.

I think the last time I actually saw him was sitting on a shelf on The Colbert Report.

Okay, I've actually watched the video now. It's a really good watch, an interesting conversation about ego in a way that you might not be expecting. (Well, except for one digression that one expects these days.)

I had never before connected that Out Of Time and Generation X: Tales Of An Accelerated Culture came out within 6 months of one another. I was entirely obsessed with both. I can't say I really stuck with REM but I have stuck with Coupland over the years.

Anyway, I'll stop flooding the thread. I really enjoyed this a lot! Thanks for posting!

As long as we're citing Stipey's screen credits, here he is in Arena Brains.

I couldn't get past Coupland's sleeptalking. A shame I liked his stuff a great deal back in the day (haven't kept up after Girlfriend in a Coma).

There seems to be a bit of overlap with this other MeFi post from today.
