This honest trailer is almost as wacky as the film.

If they stretched the honest trailes to about 10 minutes, most of them would be way better than the original movies.

One of their best lines is about Mad Max Fury Road, starring "Fast and Furiosa, and Tom Hardly-in-this-movie."

I generally don't support the rise of snark culture, yet strangely enough I agree with Honest Trailers about movies I don't like.

I love the Fast and Furious movies, and must sadly admit they got the trailer just right. New Paul's Drag Race!

I highly recommend the one they did for Divergent ("wait, guys, didn't we do this one already?" [pointing out how hard they ripped off The Hunger Games]) and the sitdown they do with the guys who wrote/directed John Wick, as well as the brothers who directed the non-Joss Avengers/Captain American films, all of whom were charmingly good-natured about being called on the worst plot holes (mostly with, "we know it's ridiculous but it looked so cool!").

How had I never seen that one for the original Willy Wonka? With new songs actually sung by Michael Bolton? I love Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and that trailer was both affectionate and accurate. (I mean, check out Grandpa Joe's coke-nails, you guys.)

Huh. Today I learnt Tim Brooke-Taylor was in Willy Wonka.

I think that's what makes these so great. Sure, there are some easy targets like Fifty Shades of Grey, but the Willy Wonka trailer pulls no punches as Michael Bolton sings about how the oompa loompas were originally black slaves, and the Adventure Time The Princess Bride trailer calls Westley abusive as it freeze frames on him raising his hand to Buttercup. But I think it's clear these are a labor of love.

OTOH, I also love that they call Count Rugen "His Fingers Go To Eleven." Genius!

Honest Trailers is the right dose of silly that I don't mind it. And they usually find a way to shout out when a movie is actually good or even to shout out the one good scene in a bad movie, which kind of tips it more toward "yeah, we're snarking, but it's all in good fun" than, like, the whole Cinema Sins thing of finding fault for the sake of finding fault.

Face/Off really is an absurd film, even for a Nic Cage starring action movie.

Saaaaaaaaame. (Honestly, it only made me want to see a Lone Wolf and Cub starting Jason Statham. Either that, or just go back and watch the first F&F again. The whole thing was very Uncanny Valley.)

Also, now I really wanna watch Face/Off again. (Confession: I love terrible action movies.)

I should mention that if watching video is an issue, the audio should be plenty amusing for movies you know, and even many movies that you just know of.

Don't skip the Willy Wonka one, it ends with Michael Bolton singing on-point parodies of the songs, including one parody that Mefites should really appreciate.

Huh, I did not remember that Margaret Cho is in face off

Great call out on Fight Club with a montage of Fight Club products (yes, soap!) at the end. And, of course, the very vulnerable Forrest Gump.

Okay, describing Tyler Durden as the Che Guevara of imaginary friends was pretty good. But not as good as referring to Forrest Gump as Usain Dolt.

Independence Day has another great meta joke in the "Starring" credits, here at 4:01.

Honest Trailers shows deep affection for their subjects in the treatment of both good and bad movies; it's really clear they love the medium and find the tropes (initially I typed that as "tripes" which is kinda awesome) hilarious.

I like Honest Trailers because they're amazing both for films I like and for films I didn't, whether because they were mediocre or outright bad.

"His fingers go to eleven" (Princess Bride) is pretty good.
