In case of apocalypse, heat rock

* Step one: start fire. * Step two: heat boulder. * Step three: download documents from piratebox.

This proof-of concept is one of the more aggressive casemods. Once literally fired up the device serves up a private wifi access point serving a file library. On drive-by, the demonstration library looks, um, questionable and in need of curating ("A to Z DAting Guide.pdf" [sic] is probably not worth the kindling, other likely puerile, banal choices) but its an interesting thought-piece for the postapocalypse.

Oh that's just great, after the apocalypse the wifi is still damn slow. Lousy apocalypse.

I have no doubt the content was curated, with tongue in cheek.

Who wants to bet a suitcase full of antibiotics that at least one of those systems will stop working after five years of no maintenance? It won't even need to be hardware failure due to environment. The wireless AP won't be able to contact it's cloud based management or the iPhone will brick because it hasn't found a time server and itunes won't let the phone load.

The teenagers of tomorrow will have to learn to date the same way I did, awkwardly.

What iPhone?

'Cause we'll all have plenty of electricity with which to charge our phones in a survival situation.

Yes, this is highly impractical.

Just like everything else survivalist.

So, a Windows 10 (couldn't get 7 any more) laptop, with an offline copy of Wikipedia wins again?

To be fair, I think the guy mostly just searched for the words 'guide' and 'pdf' on a torrent tracker or something. Too bad we can't see the H's to sass if he's a frood.

*glaring icily at my iPhone* :

You know it's true, too...don't deny it.
