I was in labor all day 17 years ago today so this is a special song for me. My kid and I listened to it a couple times today. And I just showed her the video. Her comment "this version is like rock jingle bell…!" LOL

Seeing this comment makes me wonder, as someone who (like I suspect many others on Metafilter) has turned heavily to the comfort blanket of the McElroy family of products in psychic defence against the shitstorm of our dystopian future, whether there is a McElroy linked increase in the use of the word "goof" to describe the category "acts and speech acts with humorous intent". I'd never really encountered it used that way consistently pre-McElroy, and the dictionary suggests that it may (at this point) be a non-standard definition. Am I just limited in my cultural references?

There's definitely a McElroy vector on that for me personally, yeah. I wouldn't have put it out of reach as that noun-form usage previously but I also don't think I'd have been very likely to make the reach.

Demi is also half of the amazing Gilmore Guys podcast, and the single best mashup artist this side of Neil Cicerega; his #TwitterJamsJuly project (in which every day in July 2015 he made a mashup based on a different tweet along the lines of "hey someone should mash up X and Y") is a must-listen.
