I've been working through Invisible Man, so this is appreciated.

Yeah, Invisible Man is really... incandescent? It reminds me a bit of Proust in its looping narration, although driven by an engine of hope, frustration, and rage rather than jealousy. The individual scenes are so memorable, the characters so well delineated even through the often-grotesque imagery and twists in the plot. These photos capture a lot of that simmering uneasiness and tension; I imagine that’s why Life only published a few.

I finally got around to reading Invisible Man recently, and I wish someone had mentioned to me a decade or two ago that it's funny. It's not just a grimly worthy duty read, it's a coruscating, fast-paced satire

Yeah, if there's a Great American Novel Invisible Man is it. Go read it if you haven't.
